Live-Action Kariage-kun Goes on a Date Using Suica View Card

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

In 1980, manga creator Masashi Ueda began serializing Kariage-kun, a gag comedy about a salaryman whose attempts to mesh with the Japanese white collar culture is like putting a square peg into a round hole. Kariage is his office's own Dennis the Menace but he never seems to get fired.

In fact, despite his poor workmanship, the character is being resurrected as the image character for Japan Railway East's Suica View Card, a credit card that can be used to buy train tickets and used in participating convenience stores. In the commercial, a live-action Kariage accompanies a woman around the station and on a date while paying with his View Card. Kariage is played by Bark in Style model Fal.
