TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR STUDENT ANIMATORS TO SUBMIT THEIR ANIMATED MASTERPIECE FOR THE FIRST ANIMATED FILM FESTIVAL SPONSORED BY DIRECTV AND FILM ROMAN'S LEVEL13.NET
Top Entries Will Be Showcased on DIRECTV; Winners To Receive Cash Prizes. Submissions Due September 28 NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA, August 27, 2001 - Film Roman's LEVEL13.NET, the first multi-channel animation network on the Internet and DIRECTV, Inc., provider of the nation's leading digital television service invite all aspiring animators to participate in their first co-sponsored Animated Film Festival. Animators are encouraged to submit their short films to Film Roman's LEVEL13.NET by the September 28 deadline. Winners in three categories will be selected by a blue ribbon panel of judges in the field of entertainment, animation and broadcasting and will be announced in December. The animated film festival offers working artists, undiscovered animators and student filmmakers from around the world a platform to showcase their talent to 10 million customers on DIRECTV®, as part of a DIRECTV FREEVIEW® event series scheduled to air in December 2001. DIRECTV will also broadcast selected short films from the LEVEL13.NET website as a part of the BLOCKBUSTER® TICKET only on DIRECTV pay per view countdown clock, shown before a movie begins. Submissions will be accepted in three specific categories: 2-D Animation, 3-D Animation and Experimental Animation. In each of the three categories a first, second and third prize winner will be chosen, and a grand prize winner will also be selected for the film considered "Best of Show," receiving a DIRECTV System, as well as $2,500. The blue ribbon panel of judges will choose the winners based on story telling, animation direction, art direction and production design.
