Montreal's Fantasia Fest to Screen Takashi Miike's Ai to Makoto Film

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Live-action adaptation of Ikki Kajiwara's manga to open July 14-August 7 festival

The Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal will screen Takashi Miike's (Ichi the Killer, Crows Zero, Yatterman, Ace Attorney) For Love's Sake (Ai to Makoto) live-action film at the event. The film will open the festival. The film previously screened at the Cannes International Film Festival in May, and it opened in Japan on June 16.

The live-action film adapts Ikki Kajiwara's Ai to Makoto manga. The film is the fourth live-action adaptation of the romance story. Emi Takei (live-action Rurouni Kenshin) plays an angelic high school girl named Ai Saotome, and Satoshi Tsumabuki (live-action Dororo, Dragon Head, Ikebukuro West Gate Park) plays the "ultra" high school delinquent Makoto Taiga.

The festival will also screen Keiichi Satou's (Tiger & Bunny, Karas) and Toei's Asura anime film, the live-action film adaptation of Masaharu Noritsuke's Afro Tanaka manga, and the Blood-C: The Last Dark anime film.

The 2012 Fantasia International Film Festival will take place from July 14 to August 7.
