Koei Tecmo America and Koei Tecmo Europe announced on Thursday that the Dynasty Warriors 9 game for PlayStation 4 will get a release in the West.
Koei Tecmo America describes the game:
In Dynasty Warriors 9, players will explore China as it existed when feudal warlords vied for dominance over the land – the waning days of the Han dynasty and emergence of the Three Kingdoms era. Setting out to complete various objectives, players will utilize an unprecedented world map to navigate and traverse a variety of different landscapes ranging from vast plains to snow-covered peaks presented with dynamic day/night and weather cycles. Exploring these impressive environments is made more engaging through the ability to adapt to surroundings to gain an upper hand in battle, with players able to use equipment to circumvent obstacles or blend in to avoid conflict.
The game will have Critical Missions and Regular Missions.
This week's issue of Kadokawa's Weekly Famitsu magazine revealed on Thursday that the game, titled Shin Sangoku Musou 8 in Japan, will ship for the PlayStation 4. The game will add Cheng Pu as a new general and feature new actions such as shooting enemies from a distance and using grappling hooks to enter enemy castles. The game will feature new attacks, new characters, and other "innovations."
Koei Tecmo announced the game in December and confirmed that the game's English title is Dynasty Warriors 9. The game will represent a "rebirth" in the hack-and-slash franchise.
The staff previously introduced one of the game's new playable characters, Zhou Cang. The character, who is also in the Musou Stars game that shipped on March 30, will wield a Daisatsutō. (The weapon's name uses a character that is not among the standard kanji characters in Japan.) Dynasty Warriors 9 producer Akihiro Suzuki confirmed that all 83 characters who have appeared in the Dynasty Warriors franchise up to Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires will also appear in the new entry.
