Jewelpet Twinkle Magical Girl Anime's Staff Reunites for New Video

The official Twitter account for the Jewelpet Twinkle DVD-Box release announced on Wednesday that the 2010-2011 magical girl anime's original staff is collaborating on a new short video. The new video will be similar to another video created for the Jewelpet Twinkle Fan Disc F DVD/CD bundle that shipped in 2012, after the television anime finished airing. The Twitter account teases another opportunity for fans to meet everyone at the anime's Magic Academy again.
The television anime's director Takashi Yamamoto (A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives, Nanatsuiro Drops) is leading the new effort, after the video distributor Frontier Works presented the rights holder Sanrio and the anime's production committee with the project proposal for a new fan disc. The video is part of the celebration next summer of the anime's protagonist Akari Sakura turning 20 on July 22, 2018. (20 is the age at which people officially become adults in Japan.)
The television anime already inspired three previous fan discs as well as a new special episode created for the television anime's Blu-ray Disc box release.
Sanrio and Sega Toys launched their Jewelpet character and toy line in 2008, and the first Jewelpet anime followed a year later. Each Jewelpet toy is a stuffed animal; in the original storyline, these pets belonged to magicians in "Jewelland" and can use magic themselves, thanks to their round jewel eyes. They study every day to learn how to use magic.
The first Jewelpet anime was followed by Jewelpet Twinkle, Jewelpet Sunshine, Jewelpet Kira☆Deco—!, Jewelpet Happiness, Lady Jewelpet, and most recently, 2015's Jewelpet Magical Change.
