Yasashii Akuma Picture Book Gets Anime on Amazon Prime

Kate Arrow directs anime about boy and his demon friend

Mitsuru Nakamura's Yasashii Akuma (Nice Demon) picture book is inspiring an anime adaptation that will premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

The book follows a boy named Fuu, who lives with his grandmother and has no friends until he befriends a red demon boy named Chucchu. Gentosha published the book in 2000.

The anime's cast includes Rica Matsumoto as Chucchu, Mitsuki Saiga as Fuu, Sumi Shimamoto as the grandmother and narrator, and Takashi Satō as the tree grandfather.

Kate Arrow (Ohayō Ninja-Tai Gatchaman) is directing the anime and Yuki Sakuma is composing the music. Mari Okonogi is performing the theme song "Zutto, Futari wa Tomodachi" (We Two Will Be Friends Forever).
