Mr. Osomatsu Gets 3rd Main Stage Play in Winter

2016, 2018 plays get theatrical screenings to celebrate new play

The official website for the Mr. Osomatsu stage plays revealed that the new Osomatsu-san on Stage ~Six Men's Show Time 3~ play will run in winter 2019. The plays' official YouTube channel also began streaming an announcement video.

Additionally, theatrical screenings of the 2016 Osomatsu-san on Stage ~Six Men's Show Time~ and 2018 Osomatsu-san on Stage ~Six Men's Show Time! 2~ plays on May 24-26 will celebrate the upcoming play.

The first stage play ran from September to October 2016, and the second play ran from February to March 2018. The separate Kigeki Osomatsu-san (Comedy Mr. Osomatsu) play ran in November.

A new anime film in the Mr. Osomatsu franchise, Osomatsu-san The Movie (Eiga Osomatsu-san), opened throughout Japan on March 15 and ranked at #7 in its opening weekend. A seven-episode series of anime shorts, titled Eiga no Osomatsu-san - Gekijō Kōkai Kinen Original Tanpen Gekijō (Mr. Osomatsu the Movie - Commemorative Original Short Theater), debuted earlier in March to mark the film's release.

The Mr. Osomatsu television anime is inspired by Fujio Akatsuka's original Osomatsu-kun manga and "high tension comedy" TV anime, which centered on the Matsuno household with six naughty and mischievous sons (who are sextuplets). All of the sextuplets, including the eldest Osomatsu, are all in love with the same girl, Totoko. The original Osomatsu-kun series followed the family when the sons were 10 years old. Mr. Osomatsu re-imagines the original manga and TV anime with the sextuplets as adults.

The first Mr. Osomatsu anime season premiered in October 2015, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. The second Mr. Osomatsu anime season premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo and TV Aichi last October.

The Osomatsu-san Ouma de Kobanashi special aired in Japan in December 2016, and Crunchyroll streamed the anime under the title "Mr. Osomatsu JRA Special 2016." The 24-minute special is part of the "Hashire! Oumatsu-san" collaboration between Mr. Osomatsu and the Japan Racing Association. The collaboration also includes a series of six new anime shorts titled "Mutsugo to Ouma no Monogatari" (The Story of the Sextuplets and a Horse). dMatsu-san, the 12-episode short anime spinoff series of the main Mr. Osomatsu anime, premiered on dTV service in January.

Viz Media acquired the digital streaming, electronic sell-through, home video, and merchandise rights for the Mr. Osomatsu anime, including the second season.
