Anime premieres on October 7, Crunchyroll to stream show outside Asia

The official website for the anime of FUNA's Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?! (Watashi, Nōryoku wa Heikinchi de tte Itta yo ne!) light novel series began streaming the show's first six minutes on Friday.

The anime will premiere on AT-X, Tokyo MX, and BS11 on October 7, on TV Aichi on October 8, and ABC TV on October 9. The anime will stream in Japan only on Amazon Prime Video. Crunchyroll will stream the series outside Asia, and hosted a premiere screening of the first episode of the anime at its Crunchyroll Expo event on August 31.

The anime stars:

  • Azumi Waki as Mile / Misato Kurihara
  • Sora Tokui as Reina
  • Fumiko Uchimura as Mavis
  • Masumi Tazawa as Pauline
  • Wataru Hatano as Nano
  • Hiyori Kono as Renny

Masahiko Ohta (Minami-ke, Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily, Gabriel DropOut) is directing the anime at project No.9. Takashi Aoshima, who has worked with Ohta on many of the series he directed, is in charge of series composition. Sō Watanabe (Momokyun Sword, Girls Beyond the Wasteland episode animation director) is drawing the character designs.

Cast members Azumi Waki, Sora Tokui, and Masumi Tazawa will perform the opening theme song "Smile Skill=Sukisukiskill" as their respective characters and under the unit name Akaki Chikai. Waki will also perform the ending theme song "Genzai ↑ Banzai ↑" as Mile.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the novels and the manga, and it describes the story:

When she turns ten years old, Adele von Ascham is hit with a horrible headache–and memories of her previous life as an eighteen-year-old Japanese girl named Kurihara Misato. That life changed abruptly, however, when Misato died trying to aid a little girl and met god. During that meeting, she made an odd request and asked for average abilities in her next life. But few things–especially wishes–ever go quite as planned.
