I often see threads here about what books or movies would make good transitions to the world of manga and anime. I was thinking about a similar idea, as I'm a fan of some sports manga. (For the sake of discussion at least, I consider series like Hikaru no Go to fall under that category.)
So, what unexplored sports would make a good manga or anime series do you guys think?
One that I had on my mind was surfing. The only references I've heard to surfing in manga were not to a sports series so much as they were to a hentai series. For the record, I wouldn't read or watch something like that.
Anyone care to set me wrong, that there is a surfboarding manga? Or perhaps anyone have their own ideas on what sports or games would be interesting for the genre?
I apologize in advance if anyone else has previously started up a similar thread!

Marine Blue no Kaze ni Dakarete by Yazawa Ai is a manga about surfing.
Mistral Jun by Yagimura Aki is a manga about wind surfing.

I wasn't aware of either of those; I'm sorry. From what I could tell thus far, Marine Blue no Kaze ni Dakarete is more of a Shojo drama than what I was thinking. I couldn't find any reference to Mistral Jun online, even in the ANN encyclopedia, but that's a perfect name for a windsurfing manga!
There's of course a character who surfs in Happy Hustle High as well.
