To preface; Sorry I don't know much about this.
I was looking over on amazon at K-On blu ray #1 that is coming out at the end of April. I noticed in the comments of someones review that several people said Bandai has had bad releases due to encoding? And it kinda sounds like it was a more than a one time issue.
Can someone maybe explain it to me? And if I should be worried considering I pre-ordered it?

Encoding issues with DVDs means that the DVD is physically fine, no scratching or damage, but when they were writing the disc they messed up. So it ends up being like a book with some random missing words and letters that cause confusion when trying to read it. It usually results in pixelated video, skipping, freezing of video and audio, or general failure of the DVD to load or play. It's been known to happen a lot with Bandai. Some examples would be with Code Geass, My-Hime, and Eureka 7. It's no big deal as you can just return them and exchange it for a new one from the place you got it, if it happens. The companies will also usually replace them for you directly as well. If the entire batch of DVDs is bad the company will issue a recall and set up a program to replace the customers' discs.

I thought Bandai's encoding problems were with My-Otome and not My-Hime? (I know that there were widespread problems with the fourth volume of the former, as earlier copies would freeze up when they tried to advance to episode 16.)

That too, I had to replace a volume of My-HIME too though and Scryed and Scrapped Princess as well.
