Hi, I'm in the process of doing a complete revamp on my site ([url]auniverse.net[/url]), and I'm trying to get it set up to be 100% XHTML 1.0 transitional. However, the issue runs across that the importing from the RSS newsfeed's code is more sloppy than a sloppy joe. I was just wondering if there was some proactive measure that could be taken to ensure proper standards are put into place to ensure accurate coding for all the websites using the newsfeed? Thanks again!

Here is an example of some of the recent errors the w3c validation service has picked up:
Code:
Line 177, column 392: there is no attribute "HREF"

...n they receive them. Source: <A HREF="http://www.rightstuf.com/catalog/browse

Line 177, column 478: element "A" undefined

...oc,c=right-stuf,a=anime-news-network">TRSI</A> [ No More ]</span></p>

Line 178, column 460: element "A" undefined

...Source: <A HREF="http://www.icv2.com">ICv2</A> [ No More ]</span></p>

Line 181, column 377: reference to entity "sort" for which no system identifier could be generated

...ncyclopedia/releases.php?id=2933&sort=">DVD</a> is also released on Tuesday).

Line 185, column 104: there is no attribute "href"

...</b><br /><span class="desc"><A href="http://www.animegamersusa.com/">Anime G

As you can see, most of it comes from just simple capitalizing of commands, which is out of date. Thanks!

These are errors generated by the poor coding in the ANN RSS newsfeed articles for XHTML compliance. It has nothing to do with my site or code, nor the edits I made to the printout on the RSS options, it's simply links and so-forth within the article itself. W3c has nothing to do with ANN's RSS coding.

We don't sport any standards in our metatags..

Although it'd be nice to be standards compliant, it's not high on our list of things to do with the site at the moment..

Undestandable of course, but I just don't see how it takes any more time to just type it right to start with, lol... not like it'd have to go through the entire DB and repair them, just a "from now on" type of deal so eventually over the next few weeks most rss feeds wouldn't have an issue at all. Very Happy
