Mind elaborating?
I'm not big into doujinshi, but I had to read Azumanga Kenoh one I heard that it was a cross between Azumanga Daigo and Fist of the North Star. Amusing considering it was a one shot, and Kentaro dressed like a furry was classic. |

Well, actually, I would like to do so. Or you know, just, give it a try. I am still wondering about differences between dôjinshi and fanzine terms...
Because...How do I own them? I have never seen (or so I remember) a dôjinshi at any of the comic stores that I go. Or maybe they are not still so popular in Europe...Thus, can they get better than its original manga story? Should they, obviously, be cheaper? So many things that I like, so many things that I do not know...-_- |

Yes, I do read doujinshi, and I love collecting it. |

I read doujinshi when I have the time, resources, and Oppurtunity. Translation:That means I have read a whole two of them but would like to read more. One was called Godzilla vs North Korea. The other involved a teenage delinquent Cardcaptor Sakura and co.

Thanks. Rukia owns my soul. *practically worships her* My scanlation group, along with others, are actually getting into scanlating doujinshi. We're keeping our unlicensed series of course, but doing doujinshi on the side is actually fun, and there's no way they'll ever get licensed here. |

Is it really worth your concern? Both terms are used -- almost interchangeably -- for similar concepts. Neither of us are probably going to understand the full connotations of the words anyway, since those words come from a Japanese context.
I've only seen them at anime conventions; there's usually a delaer or two selling doujinshi.
It depends. Is the original author necessarily a better storyteller than the fan? I don't think so, although it's usually the case. As to price...well, now we're getting into economic principles. :-) From what I recall, dojinshi are usually less expensive than "regular" manga. |

Well, authors do often live from the money they earn making stories, nor fans do not (well, at sometimes). Someone who dedicates his/her everyday to it, in my opinion, should know a bit more what does people like or how to create interesting stories than someone who does not live from it. And being cheaper...I believe that imprents trust more in someone who may be famous around other countries that someone who is not (or not at the same level), so they would spend more money into production, and so it would be expensiver. P.S: Is it correct to say I believe that imprents relay more in...?

OK, I'm not a big collector of doujinshi, mainly because my sister's great at finding me scanlations. But I will admit to a small collection of Lord of the Rings doujinshi, that I finally broke down and started buying since it's impossible to find any scanlations.

Anyone read Pluto? It isn't technically a doujinshi, but it's set in a world created by Osamu Tezuka (in this case Astro Boy). Very good manga by Naoki Urasawa. It is definitally got elements of Monster in it.

As for how often I buy them – vary rarely. Most of the time the only place that I can find them is on eBay, and I have a hard time paying 2-3 times more than the cover price for the dôjinshi. |
