Especially if some shows have been re-released recently (and the older disks are missing/broken).
Or if a show is "unavailable" or has a "very long wait".

All of this has been going through my mind as well. This is, in fact, why I originally created this thread is for this issue. I hope that since Qwikster is strictly for disc viewing, that they will once again have a respectable catalog for our viewing pleasure. I'd love to be able to start watching anime on Blu-ray.

So I called that number and it's just for their office directory. You have to know your party's extension. It's not a feedback or customer service number. :/

I certainly hope that is the case, since I have such a long list of saved items. I have to imagine that they would have to do so, considering they don't care to see a reduction in customers over this. I also hope that by splitting, the DVD-only side will be able to devote more of their attention to just DVD rentals.

Haha! What a Joke.
| Quote: | | Dear [subscriber],
It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.
This means no change: one website, one account, one password…in other words, no Qwikster.
While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes.
We're constantly improving our streaming selection. We've recently added hundreds of movies from Paramount, Sony, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, MGM and Miramax. Plus, in the last couple of weeks alone, we've added over 3,500 TV episodes from ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, USA, E!, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, ABC Family, Discovery Channel, TLC, SyFy, A&E, History, and PBS.
We value you as a member, and we are committed to making Netflix the best place to get your movies & TV shows.
Respectfully,
The Netflix Team |
Maybe they couldn't handle it when SNL started making fun of them. I guess I'll change the thread title back.

So basically like I said over on Gamefaqs, they don't mention anything about increasing the support for the DVD version.
With the Qwickster thing, it looked like they might have wanted to support the DVD/Blu-Ray crowd, and also get the gamers involved as well (notice it does not even mention games in that letter).
Have not checked the e-mail, but the last one was from the CEO, and this one is just from some random person, I wonder if something is afoot in Netflix land...

Does this mean that the video game rental policies that Qwikster would have ushered in are now dead as well?

What netflix (or whatever they decide to change their name to) does or doesn't do doesn't matter one bit to me as I stopped renting from them years ago.

My Saved Queue just outpaced my regular Queue last week. If I don't add any more movies to Netflix, I should come to the end of the line this January or February. Despite their having only one distribution center, I've pretty much decided to switch to Rent Anime when that happens. (This whole Quikster crisis has been a major determining factor, as well.)

Seems my choices with anime for streaming with Netflix are getting low on my end as well; to the point where they are titles that I could also see via DVD rental. Unless Netflix picks up anything new to pique my interest for streaming, I won't be too surprised if I run out of titles to stream in the next month or two and I choose to switch over to a DVD-only rental plan if I have no anime to stream on Netflix.

I had a few questions about Netflix, and I hope that no one minds if I ask them. I got an email about a pending class action lawsuit against Netflix recently, and I was wondering if anyone else received one. I don't even know if it's legitimate, but if it is, I really do not want to get involved in anything like that at all if it is.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed a rise in the number of damaged disks lately as well. I was trying to get volume 9 of the original Mobile Suit Gundam for quite some time, and actually received multiple damaged copies. Today I received a damaged disk for the third movie. It's really quite distressing, and I wanted to know if anyone else was getting treated the same so to speak.
Thank you!

I have not received any information about a lawsuit. Nor have I received any damaged disks lately. I probably haven't received a damaged disk in over a year now.

Got the e-mail too--It's from years and YEARS ago, back when Netflix was just coming to the forefront and Wal-mart was struck with trying to make a name for itself with its DVD sales.
Netflix was also thinking about branching out into selling used disks, and they struck a ceasefire deal: Netflix would (wisely) get out of the used-sale business, and Wal-mart would (even more wisely) drop their idea to start a new competing rental service.
Some disgruntled folk thought this was unfair collusion between companies and sic'ed the lawyers on it.
And if you even REMEMBER what all this was about, you'd probably be thrilled with the gift-certificate or coupon you're likely to get out of the settlement, if the slow-moving wheels of justice ever get this to the courts. Even I had to look it up, though.

Just curious about something. If a particular disc has the "unknown" availiblity does it mean they don't have it, or what?

Titles with Unknown availability mean that Netflix doesn't have them in stock and would sort them in a Save section of your queue shortly afterward.
