. . .aka Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan.
Anyone else had a chance to see this? I stayed up until 1 a.m. at a convention this past weekend to check it out based just on the intriguing name. It was worth the sleep deprivation. I laughed my *** off, and I was far from the only one in the room doing that. Very twisted, but probably the most insanely funny anime I've seen since Excel Saga. Hope an American company eventually picks it up. |

I have the first 4 episodes. It's a great series. I hope it gets licensed soon.

I rather liked it, with its oddball style of humour. It reminded me of Puni Puni Poemi.
However, I have to say - after the first couple of episodes, it gets sort of old. There's only so much you can do with the premise. - abunai |

I'd have to agree with you Abunai. I was amused with the first couple of episodes, but have been less than enthralled with the subsequent releases. I've read a little bit of the novel it's based off of, and I hope there is a little more substance to be found there.

Yeah, I must agree that the series loses some of its punch once the novelty wears off, but I still found all six half-episodes they showed to be quite funny and eagerly await a chance to see the next two. (I guess episodes 7-8 aren't out in Japan until next month?)
Funny opener, too. And the reasons why the angels were trying to off Sakura made me chuckle every time I thought about it. And while I don't normally go for that type of humor, the side effect of the angels losing their halos was just too much too resist. I think this one stands a good chance of getting picked up once it's done. Its humor would translate well and the name sells itself. And besides, ADV did pick up Kekko Kamen. . . |

after seeing the first 2 eps, i thought that if they were to keep up that level it would eventually become a turn-off.
Those eps were funny but seeing the same sort of thing over and over again would be a real downside. Luckily, it turned out to that they didn't re-used the same stuff every time and i'm quit happy i'm folling this eries |

I loved the first two half-episodes that I saw but I will probably save the experience of watching the rest of the series until it is licensed and bought by me. It's definitely the bloodiest and goriest comedy anime that I've seen by far and it seems like it's something I shouldn't have been enjoying as much as I did. It is somewhat similar to Excel Saga but it seems to have a storyline and is a lot more ecchi(at least in the first 7 eps. of ES that I watched). I'll be looking forward to this series being licensed soon.

Yeah, it's a cute series. I think it does work better in small doses, but then look how many Road Runner cartoons they made.

Why is it I see ADV picking up this oddball title?
And just because it is a Geneon title, dose not mean that Geneon will be the one that releaces it in the U.S. ADV has proved this to us already with one of the titles they hepled work on it Japan getting picked up by Geneon.. |

I kinda like it because it's fun to watch a show where your typical loser male lead gets brutally slaughtered for every stupid thing he says. That, and the premise of the entire idea of the show is just super wrong. =P

But unlike, say, a Love Hina, where a lot of the violence will be precipitated, in Bokusatsu Tenshi, it's basically "Dokuro is standing there... Sakura is dead. Oh well!" In my mind, it was laugh out loud funny at first, but really went downhill from there. Intriguing set-ups would have been better, instead of just any old excuse. |
