Has any dojinshi ever been bought by a production team?

Hi

I've been reading a bit about Dojinshi's, and was wondering if a person has a decent idea and obviously goes through the trouble of creating a fanbase for a self produced piece of manga, is there any possibility - or have there been any cases where the idea has been bought out and produced into a proper series and/or anime?

Obviously, I'm talking about original ideas and not smaller series inspired or adapted from already released material.

Cheers

Haibane Renmei started life as a doujin, although I'm not sure if that counts for you question since it was not based on any existing work.

It's stretching the point a bit (since the original doujin was not in manga form, but was instead an H-doujin game), but I'd say that Shingetsutan Tsukihime more or less meets the requirements posed by your question.

Yoshitoshi Abe's wonderful series Haibane Renmei began as a doujinshi. Albeit, the original work was drawn by Abe as well, but I'd say it qualifies.

[Edit - Whoops, I just noticed Shiroi Hane's post. ^^; Sorry for being redundant.]

The Excel Saga manga was, at first, doujinshi published. It was adopted into an anime after it became a more popular, serialized manga series, but at one point in time it was doujinshi.

Thanks

I'm more thinking of the one guy with a brilliant idea starts writing a comic book to pass the time away. How would this then go from being freely available or public into a proper licensed manga - would you be approached or do you have to seek a publisher claiming '# downloads per week'.

I've done a search for some dojinshi sites on google but it always brings up stupid hentai links and I've only managed to find a couple. Is there a site where people submit their work to be viewed and looked at; to see what kind of quality is out there.
