I really dug this series. Didn't a publisher recently express interest in licensing the manga? Was it Vertical or am I misremembering...?

I'm putting my money on this being a cancellation rather than a proper ending. The manga recently got really confusing for a stretch of what must have been 5 months or so...wouldn't surprise me if it turned off a lot of readers, especially as it was happening just as the series was getting good.

I don't think it is a cancellation. Cocoa Fujiwara doesn't write long stories (the longest one is dear with 12 volumes, 13 if you count its prequel Watashi no Ookami-san)
The end of the second arc made it clear that the story was going to end soon. The last months had interlude chapters which solved most of the unresolved stuff about the main characters.

My only complaint is that she has taken so long to start the new arc after the cliffhanger end of the second arc.

I really enjoyed the anime adaptation, so I picked up the manga about a month ago.

I was REALLY disappointed in the direction the story took. I didn't expect it and it really took me off guard. Most of what happened was hinted throughout the early chapters of the series, but it still stunned me.

Ever since then I have not enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the chapters that were adapted into the anime.

Oh thank goodness, the pain is almost over...

The canon version of this series will always be the anime for me. I'm still astonished at how thoroughly the original manga managed to butcher itself, in an apparently planned move, even...

This. I liked the anime, but at the point in the story where the anime ends, is close to the part where the manga went down the drain.

It goes down the drain after they get together?! Jeez! I just finished that part! Here I am saying I can't wait for more to come out. Well I will read and form my own opinion but I did thoroughly enjoy the anime!

The latest volume sold 340,000 copies, which makes it one of the best selling series Square Enix has.

I just wanna mention that "Dear!" is actually a work by Mitsuki Kako.
Fujiwara's manga should be linked to this one

Oh, I thought the anime series that debuted last year around this time was okay. I haven't given much thought to the manga but might marathon it after its done publishing :p

The anime only covered about the first 10 chapters of the manga if I remember correctly. Not bad, but pacing was far too slow for some. I enjoyed it and actually hope to see more of this in the future.

A few months ago I found out what happens in the Inu x Boku SS Manga and boy was I shocked. I'm glad the Anime ended where it did, as it seems like in the Manga the story self-destructs shortly afterwards. I haven't been so flabbergasted at what happens in a Manga since Usagi Drop's controversial ending.
