Well, my topic actually relates to my most recent topic "Anime and Nintendo Wii" because as I was reading the replys the subject of the Gundam series has come up which kinda inspired me to make this topic dedicated to the Gundam series.
This is the "Anime News Network" key word Anime, so I take it most people have seen or read about the hit anime series the "Gundam" series.
Over the years, Cartoon Network's two hour long show "Toonami" aired Gundam Wing, Mobile Fighter G- Gundam, and the SD Gundam Force series.
For myself, I like the G-Gundam series because the story is on going. I love that Domone's own close friends and even his own brother is absorbed by the evil of the Devil Gundam (US- Dark Gundam.) Also, that this series is full of mystery. Example, Master Asia, who actually helps Domone during the early stages of Keoji's rule with the Dark Gundam but he actually wants to control the world with the Dark Gundam and fights Domone for his mission. Another is that the Host of the Gundam Fights in Neo Hong Kong is also plotting against Domone. There are more but I don't feel it is necessary to go on because there are intelligent people who may be reading this and know what I mean by it.
To sum it all up, there are MANY twists and turns in Mobile Fighter G- Gundam. That is what interests me. I've told you my favorite series, what is your favorite? And if you could, why?

Hasn't Toonami also aired the original Gundam, 0080 War In The Pocket, and 08th MS Team?
Personally, I couldn't stomach G-Gundam. Maybe it was the dub that just made it really corny; "You may have those Silver Feet, but I have these Shining Fingers!"... Whatever .
I would have to say my favorite Gundam series is 0083 Stardust Memory. When I first got into Gundam, it was because I wanted to see mobile Suits fight. Gundam Wing, my first Gundam exposure thanks to toonami, gave me a taste of that, but also a whole lot of boring talk. Gundam 0083 had some talk, but it was mainly action.

Yes, they did, but only Original Gundam was aired in the afternoon block. All of the titles you mentioned received late night airings (and were left pretty much untouched) on Toonami's latenight block (Midnight Run?) during the week.
Gundam 0083: STARDUST MEMORY was aired on Toonami's weekend block also late at night.

Mobile Fighter G Gundam takes something extra; either little exposure to Real Robot sub-genre or a real love of the Super Robot subgenre. I happen to be a fan of SR as well, so I could appreciate it.

0083 has some awesome animation in it, especially in the mecha battles; however I think the end of it was rushed because it opened some weird holes for the period between the One Year War and the beginning of Zeta.
My favorite TV series is a draw between Zeta and Victory. High body count and each of them have an emotional appeal to the viewer. The animation for them I think is fairly high quality for TV series of their respective time frames. While I think Zeta has some better characters, I think Victory has some of the better mecha.
My favorite movie is Char's Counterattack, hands down.
My favorite OAV is 08th MS Team, despite it's shafty ending (and my favorite Zeon Suit of all time being in 0080). It was a refreshing look bringing even more realism to a real robot story, especially at a time when the franchise was surrounded by G Gundam and Gundam Wing.
My first exposure to Gundam anime was through Gundam Wing on fansub a couple of years before it appeared on Toonami. After that, I did some reading on Universal Century and decided to get to the beginning as close as I could, including raw versions of the TV series and Bandai's subbed theatrical movies. I would say that Gundam is my favorite anime franchise of all time and definately makes up most of my collection.

Actually, all the Gundam that aired on Toonami (except for 0080) aired during the afternoon. Gundam Wing ran in both slots.
0083 never aired on Toonami and premiered on Adult Swim's action block, though it was edited to Toonami's standards.

08th MS Team aired on the afternoon block as well, not just the midnight run.
For me, however, I liked G Gundam. I guess it had to do with my lack of experience in watching good animes back then, but I liked it. My friend and I were crazy about it at one point.

ahhh good old Gundam...How I love it so. Yes Gundam wing, the orignal gundam, 08th MS, and Stardust memories all aired on the afternoon slot. Gundam wing "uncut" aired late at night but the only thing different about it was when Hero (I don't remember how to spell it) said he was going to kill that chick he liked on the night showing and on the afternoon he said he was going to stop her.

I'm pretty sure it was. It was on cartoon network, and I remember it comming on after DBZ in the toonami line up. I think it was during the first TOM.

No. It wasn't. 08th MS and 0080 were the only Universal Century OVAs to air on Toonami. Though 0083 was intended to go there, it instead went to Adult Swim in an edited form because when Adult Swim started airing anime in large quantities, it was strapped for new shows and needed some stuff to fill in the gaps until they could get some genuine "Adult Swim exclusives."

Hrm.. I never remembered 0080 and 08th MS airing in the afternoon; I remember catching them in the late night spots if I caught them on TV at all. And I neglected to mention G Gundam because it was in the OP, I believe ... and there's some poor wording in my first post, sry sry.
And considering how Toonami and [as] programming went on Saturdays, I have a feeling my 0083 mistake could be overlooked. Of course, as for 0083 airing in the afternoon, there seems to be a lot of contention there, too.

0080 never aired in the afternoon, you're right. It was part of Toonami's Midnight Run lineup, as well as that short-lived SVGA Saturday evening block. 08th MS, however, did air several times in the afternoons.

I don't see why, unless people are readily confusing it for 08th MS. It never aired in the afternoons, period.
