I need help with finding a mystery anime. It seems I cant find a realistic mystery anime like Detective Conan, all I can find is possesions, demons, etc. Any way if you can help, it would be greatly apreciated.

So...
1) Realistic, no fantasy (no demons, magic, possesions, different worlds prefferably on earth would be nice)
2) A anime kinda based on crime sceans, realistic situations like Detective Conan
3) Either a Ongoing series, Mini series, or the series could have ended.
4) Possibly a 1 or 2 episode mystery not a whole series long mystery like Monster. <<edit-sorry for forgeting to mention this..

thanks for any help.
I know about...
Monster, Spiral, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Detective Conan, Witch Hunter Robin. Thats seems to be all that comes to mind.

I believe that Monster is exactly what you're looking for. I have only seen the first ten or so episodes, but it is quite excelent.

He already pointed out that he knows about monster.

Anyways I can't be of much help in this genre and the only other mystery anime I have seen up till now would Detective Conan, Monster and Spiral.

You may want to try these:

Gunsmith Cats - A show about 2 bounty huners. This one goes out of its way to be realistic (the making of extra on DVD goes into all the deatails). It's only 3 episodes long, so it's easy to watch. There is also a Riding Bean OVA featuring the main character.

City Hunter - Less of a mystery, more action oriented, but also fairly realistic (nothing more improbable than detective conan has to offer). The TV series is long, but episodes are pretty much standalone.

Jin-Roh - A political thriller. While it takes place in an alternate reality, the only thing altered is history. It's a single movie, so again the commitment is minimal.

Master Keaton - A series of standalone episodes about an insurance investigator. Some of them involve crime solving, some have action, some are just narratives about peoples lives. Very realistic.

You may also try Lupin 3 - Some episodes venure further into improbable than the other works I mentioned and the main characer is a "bad guy", but it may still fit the bill.

Can't say how good this one is ( I have not watched it )

Agatha Christie no Meitantei Poirot to Marple (TV)

but it fits your description verry well.

I cant see how Love Hina is even remotely close to what he is looking for. Its a harem romance/comedy show not mystery (or even close). Plus it isnt realistic at all. Some character interactions are realistic but im not so sure about armies of mechanical turtles, randomly changing locations with no explaination, or flying hundreds of feet when punched.

I will second that. If you liked Monster, you may like Master Keaton seeing as how it was made by the same author.

However, MK is nothing but a pure episodic series, as crion said. There's no central plot, and it's more of a compiliation of adventures with a variety of themes that include action, comedy, drama, a little bit of history lessons, mysteries, and slice of life.

It's quite a unique series, in my opinon, and vastly underwatched by the anime community as a whole. I found it very enjoyable in both languages and really recommend you give it a shot.

I'll second Perfect Blue, and in a tangent category maybe also Millenium Actress (very good!) and Tokoy Godfathers. If you don't mind the dominatrix slapstick, Ghost Talker's Daydream is actually not so bad (better than you'd think from the cover, anyway..). Another might be Boogiepop Phantom - I haven't seen it myself yet, just put in an order for it, but it may fit your bill.

A third vote for Perfect Blue. Absolutely gives you a sense of how spoiler[stalking victims] feel. I made the mistake of watching it late one night (I am a GIANT fraidy cat Embarassed Very Happy Wink ) never, ever again!

Other than the fact that I'm chicken, it's a DAMN good movie!

Millennium Actress is a good movie as well.

Yea perfect blue is a great choice one of the those great mysteries that have such an evil presence to them. I am still very scare by this movie, one thing that I might add about it is that it very mature, I am not sure how you feel about nudity, but there is that.
Also I am currently watching Master Keaton (SENT ME MORE NETFLIX!) and even with only being up to vol 2 I am really enjoying it. Each episode has it own mystery and back story to it, also the show are well wrote, and the dub isn't bad. I would try to rent it since there isn't any box set.
Till next time,

Delta Kiral
