People are saying the extras (such as audio commentary) aren't subtitled?

No sign of a DVD. Huh.

Will wait for a NA domestic release.

If it never happens, so be it.

Pre-ordered.

At first the price looked high, but when you consider that they're releasing both films and that it's an import, it's fair.

And being an import, there's no dub. That would be terribly disappointing to me if there was never a dub for these first two movies, as all new recordings were done for the movies by the returning Japanese cast, and by accounts I've read, the acting by the original cast was even better than it was when they worked on the television anime.

Well well, they're actually releasing these with a decent price but then again, the Rurouni Kenshin movie & OVAs were at decent prices too and I had no problem buying those (even if two of those three turned out to be garbage) so I'll buy this as well.

Sucks that there's no dub (which will probably affect the third movie as well) but if we're lucky they'll do exactly what they & Viz are doing with Blue Exorcist & Fate/Zero in a year or two so I say be patient as far as that is concerned.

EDIT: Seems I missed this bit of news as there seems to be a Regular Edition without the CD and other physical extras for $90 so I'll be buying that instead of the Collector's Edition.

No dub due to being an import release. Because it's an import release, it's priced based on how they stick it to Japan. And because it's a Japanese release, that means the bonus content has no subtitles...but the main attractions do. Special Edition is being offered, but again, no subtitles for extras. Also shuns DVD-only consumers away with a Blu-ray only release.

Aniplex is not being subtle that they want a lot of money.

A question for anyone who knows: the first two films are compilation films, but the third is completely new material, correct?

I'd be interested to hear what people thought of the two compilation films.

And being a nominal "import", it may be that we're getting a Blu-Ray right away because we share a region with Japan, while a region-1 DVD can come later, which would give them time to do a dub.

And if completists find they have to buy both? (Mr Burns voice:) Excellent…

I'll wait for a general NA release, not because of pricing, mind you, but because of the fact that there is no dub. So there. Razz

I was going to import this, now I won't have to. Technically, I guess I still will be but I won't have to pay the ridiculous Japanese import price now. I can save some money. Who'd have thunk Aniplex would save me some $40-60? Very Happy

This just made my day.

Remember people before complaining about the price or no dub: This is an import. This doesn't prevent it from getting a full dub release later on, nor does this mean there won't be a more affordable version later on.

Decent price for Aniplex, but as a price in whole for the length of the videos it's about 5 times more than what others charge for anime movies. About 5 times more than the average fan can really afford to spend on a movie. Aniplex of America as usual, not caring about the more average income fans. I know I've said this a thousand times but I really wish they'd start caring about getting these products out to more fans rather than just richer fans. If I ever created something amazing I'd want to share it with as many people as possible.

I'd like to wait for a domestic release with a dub... but I sort of also just want to get the import because it has a soundtrack CD... Wonder if I could get an import of just the soundtrack, and then wait for a domestic release...
