This is probably a good idea- gotta repopulate the studio after everyone evacuated for Khara and Trigger! But also, what's always made GAINAX special is how it's given younger artists creative roles (Anno was 28 when he directed Gunbuster, Tsurumaki and Imaishi were in their mid-30s when they did their big series, and of course all the GAINAX boys were babies in their 20s when Honneamise happened.) So this is keeping in spirit with the studio's style.
It'd be great if this brought up a bunch of animators with strong, personal styles and totally unique imaginations! I might be a little over-optimistic though! |
