For quite a long time - more than a year, I've been able to add kanji names to various people in the encyclopedia. But just today, I tried adding kanji to a new person I added, Ryouichi Kaida (甲斐田 亮一). However, for both family and given name I keep getting the error "Information does not follow correct format". I tried adding various types of "URL where the information can be verified (etc" information - URLs, just information, and of various lengths but every single time I get the same error.
Is it because of the encoding system or something? (I don't know how to check what kind of encoding system I'm using when I'm *typing* from the IME.) Cos, well, it was working all this time. Or have I been banned from entering kanji names  (Sounds like something the admins here would do)
I hope I can get an answer to my question... thanks. (p.s. This happens with other names as well, like Sumie Kinoshita 木野下澄江(#58221) and Takuya Nakano 中野拓也(#58270), Mami Endo 遠藤麻未(#23140), Jun Kawai 河井淳 (#58273), Hayato Nakaya 中谷隼人 (#58275), Emi Kubo 窪絵美(#58274) Satoko Saitou (#58276)) |

Aha, interesting. This is because a few days ago I upgraded everything in the site to use UTF-8 encoding. I tried to avoid breakage as much as possible but it looks like I hadn't anticipated this one. It should be fixed now.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I think there's a problem with entering "Birth names" as well. Same error. I guess it's the same cause.
For example I tried adding 徹 (Tooru) 菱山 (Hishiyama) to this. I get an "Information does not follow correct format" error althoguh I tried all sorts of things (various sources, combination of half-width and full-width parantheses and spaces). |

Yep, birth names had the same problem, now fixed. BTW you have it backward; you should enter "Tooru (徹) Hishiyama (菱山)"
