I'm thinking of picking this up, and wondered if anyone has read it, and has an opinion on it.

I'm suprised anyone actually wants to buy this rather obscure title. It's by Kazuichi Hanawa a respected underground manga-ka who went to one of Japan's ultra-resrictive prisons for owning a gun). On the positive side, Hanawa's art and storytelling are quite interesting and he's clearly interested in painting an accurate picture of what Japanese prison is like. Which happens to be pretty damn boring. Nobody getting shanked or raped, just men being monitored 25/7. We follow Hanawa as he goes through his days with every movement he makes being controlled; if he spent more time writing about how he felt or his inner struggle, it might have been exellent. The man IS a good writer, as shown by his entry into the anthology JAPAN, but he never really gets it together. More of an informational look at a Japanese prison than anything else.

I thought it was interesting, but a tad dry. I wasn't bored to death and found the Hanawa's presentation interesting and unexpected.

Thanks for showing interest in manga that's off the beaten path, I guess that's 3 of us here now :P
