I never thought this day would come, but Doraemon is finally coming to the US, and I'm really excited about the news. I remember first wanting the series to come stateside when I first caught a glimpse of the show in 2007 while watching television on a business trip to Hong Kong with my dad (I was 15 at the time), and my anticipation was worth it in my opinion. The downside is that it will only be available digitally, but hey, no complaints from me. At least Doraemon is finally stateside. Who knows? Maybe if the digital release of the manga is successful it will probably expand to print publication, and (hopefully) a decision by either Funimation, Viz Media, or Saban Brands to acquire the rights to the Doraemon anime series. Now, I want to know what you think. Do you think the Doraemon manga will be successful in the US? Do you see the anime getting licensed by one of the three companies I mentioned if the series becomes popular? If so, which company do you see grabbing the rights to the anime if the English-language release of the manga is a hit here in the States? Sound off!

I love Doraemon!
I really hope that it sells well enough digitally to get someone to release it in print. I mentioned in the Talkback thread that I'd like to see a high-quality print release like the one Shogakukan is doing over in Japan right now.
I have never actually seen the anime. I think Viz actually had the rights to it at some point, but just never released it.

As I mentioned in the talkback section.. I'm really glad Doraemon is finally getting an English translation! Even though its in Digital form. I wish it gets a decent enough sales that would eventually be publish in print. I don't really care which publication as long as I see imprints!
I'm going to relive my childhood anime! I haven't seen the animation for almost half of my age. I have not read the manga but I've seen most of the anime and it was really great and entertaining.
I also hope for an anime release too! Even without an English dub, or any fancy extra supplements I'm alright with it..
