Why does the Solid State SE cost more than the Blu-Ray Edition? I hope it comes with a bunch of goodies since I decided to pre-order both editions! I assume the Blu-Ray edition is just the movie only since it is only $40 (which seems like a decent price for feature only) as opposed to the $45 SE set. At the SE price I hope to see something at least as nice as the Funimation Samurai 7 boxed editions. You can get both editions plus a free third DVD (I was torn between the Virus Buster and Street Fighter boxed sets) for $57 (before member discount) at TRSI. I'm also a bit curious about the Karas boxed set since it costs more than the two individual releases.Having already preordered the second DVD I'm a bit reluctant on ordering the box set as well.

Not able to decide I ended up buying Serge, SF II, Highlander and Macross II to round out my order

They announced the DVD release date already? I must have missed it, and I can't find it in the news, can you give us some more details please?

The rightstuf has three different version of GITS available. The strange thing is that the encyclopedia still has this title as unlicensed, and yet Rightstuf has it listed as a Manga product. Anyways I am going to pick this up now that it's included in the sale items.

Usually with multiple editions of something I want I wait until there's more info before I decide which I want and there isn't any of that yet. I'll probabally go with the special edition though since I've seen it and it's awesome so I don't mind putting up the extra cash but it depends on what it comes with..

Small note, it appears that Rightstuf has pulled the Blue Ray version of GITS:SSS off the shelf. Although I don't have a blue ray player I was still interested in this title being that it's the first anime that I've heard of being produced for a next gen format. I was thinking about preordering since by the time it's released, I should have some sort of Blue Ray player, be it a hybrid HD-DVD/Blue Ray or a PS3.

So currently there are only two versions available for this movie, the normal and the special edition, which I figured would have the DTS disc among other things.

Manga Denies Solid State Blu-ray (03:29 PM EST): Manga Entertainment's PR firm has sent out a very brief statement today saying that "Several media reports have incorrectly listed this property as a Blu-ray HD release." As we posted yesterday, our information came from a retail solicitation along with the DVD release. This isn't the first time that a studio has had erroneous (or early) information go out.
So it seems there's no need to worry about the SE costing more.

I hope that Bluray editions end up costing about the same as their standard def counterparts. So far the Japanese BR discs seem to be priced around 5000-6000 Yen which is not too much more than regular DVDs.

Steamboy, GITS 2 and Blood are still listed at Blu-ray.com as forthcoming. No entry for SSS yet.

My status for the SSS Blu-ray says "On order from manufacturer" as opposed to canceled. I wonder if I'll end up getting it for cheaper if it is reannounced at a higher quote. $45 sitll seems a bit steep for the SE since that is more than a typical DVD and OST bundle. I really hope it comes with a book.
