I have'nt seen a single Post about Zoids here on this board, so I'll make a topic, while Zoids may not be as Big as Gundam here in america like it was in japan, but I liked this franchise just as much as Gundam
But anyway, my fav Zoids series of all times was Zoids: Chaotic Century and it's direct sequel Zoids: Guardian force, the one with Van fliheight, Fiona, Zeek, Moonbay, Irving and Raven,
for two reasons, it was the first zoids series I ever saw on Toonami along time ago, while Zoids New century Zero was my second. however, to get to the point here, one of the main reasons I liked Chaotic Century than the other Series, because it was alot Darker and more violent and focused more heavilly on war with one of the Best character developments and Back stories I've seen, for example, in Guardian force We learn more about Fiona's past and how she is some how connected with the Zoid eve
While the dub version was pretty ok on some parts, but however there were some usial standord tv edits
Such as in one episode of Guardian force, several scenes containing mens with guns threatening Fiona or Van getting shot were cut, and like in Zoids New Century Zero Several Bathroom scenes with Bit Cloud walking in on lena were cut
anyway, I thought New century Zero was ok in some parts, but I thought Fuzors and Genesis Sucked.
So what were your fav Zoids Series?

I hated CC; it had to much in common with generic RPGs and Eva clones. Zoids: Zero was the best in my mind; it evoked "vagabond" themes of living by the seat of one's pants on uncertain paychecks and was almost non-stop fighting. The CGI was also pretty darn good.
At that, I hate sticking the word "death" onto anything mecha ("Deathsaurer", "Deathstinger"); it seems oxymoronic since robots cannot "die", just be destroyed. CC had a lot of terminology like that, which irritated me to no end.

Chaotic Century and Guardian Force are the same in by book for they rank at the top in my ranking system for Zoids (although I probably would watch Chaotic Century more). It's by far the best of all the series for it had a better story and better character along with a some what griddy and violent look. And my favorite Zoid designs are in it.
Next would be Genesis, although the character design was almost awful and the connection between the actual Zoids and the ground was bad, it went back to the war-torn Z rather than a freaking tournament and crappy cop show, the whole thing with how the "BIG" Zoids must choose their master and that Diga bio-zoids can only be killed by that special metal (don't remember name) pretty much sucked though. I mean if the bio-zoids can't die unless by one of those big Zoids with that metal, then EVERY other Zoid is useless, unless they're a distraction. ugha!! Although the Liger in this might be my favorite.
Next would be New Century Zero, it probably had the best animation from all the Zoid shows, but I despised the tournament based story and didn't like how Liger Zero was only powerful when he had to dress-up before every battle into one of his few forms (although the first time he unleashed Jager on the enemies ass was pretty cool). But man....going from Chaotic Century's awesomness to New Century Zero's not so much was a let down.
Last would be Fuzors, this was just a big honking piece of crap that needs to burn. the Zoids looked like the crappy Transformers from Transformers Cybertron, with HORRIBLE glitchy movements, bad sound, and a stupid cop theme to go with it. Yuck....I don't wanna talk about it anymore. Way too shiny also.

I'm also going to have to say that the original Chaotic Century was by far my favorite. I remember waking up at insane hours in the morning every day just to watch it, back when it was still airing on CN. Strangely, it's been years but I still haven't gotten around to collecting all the DVDs (only bought 2). Shame, as it has quite a bit of replay value and even though it's a kid's show, I still find it very entertaining.
Zoids Zero was the first anime I ever became a fan of, so it has quite a bit of nostalgia for me. The animation, both CG and cel, was very impressive, and the fights were very well played out. The story is nonexistent, but the endearing characters and humor makes up for it.
I never saw much of Fuzors, but what I saw was enough to form a bad judgement. Though, I've heard many Zoid fans say that it redeems itself in the second half...
I like Zoids Genesis, but admittedly I think it's just a watered-down version of Chaotic Century. The colors look even more faded than the other series, and the random shonen cliches don't help. Still, it's pretty decent from what I've seen (about the first 30 episodes) and I do intend to watch the rest at some point.

True, here in america, Fuzors was canceled here after the first 13 episodes because many zoids fans dispised it's slow moving story with the slow pace character development, however, it did get better in the final half, but yeah, Fuzors went through the same situation as F-Zero GP legends did because of poor ratings, and yes, Fuzors was one of the few animes to come to america first before japan, and eventually, japan aired the second half of the series.
as for New century Zero, Lena rocked, she's another one of those Stereo-type female anime character's always B***tching on the main character. also, Richard Ian Cox,who did Inuyasha's Voice did an awsome job on Bit cloud's voice.
as for Genesis, well........It was ok on some parts, but i did'nt like the watered down Chibi Animation.

I stayed up every morning until 5:00 AM, then it became 5:30 AM, to watch it. I did the same thing with Hamtaro when it was on at 4 AM and with The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest when it came on TNT at 4 AM with the new episode of it before it hit Toonami the same afternoon. I felt awesome doing that.
