I've decided to finally start picking up some Funimation titles that were sitting on the back burner. I've got two main choices with Kiddy Grade: Box set or singles. I have a source for the singles, including the art box, for a relatively cheap price. The box set is still less expensive, but cost is a minor factor.
What I want to know is are there any issues with the singles that might make them much less desirable? Were they released in an odd way, like with cut or uncut versions? (Normally I wouldn't ask such a question but I've seen one marked specifically as "uncut" which makes me wonder.) What are the differences with art for the original box and the box set box? |

I don't have this set but I have also been wanting to purchase it. From what I can tell, I think you are much better going with the box set. The singles are uncut, basically that means compared to the US aired version, but they don't seem to have any extras that make them really worth purchasing. However the Box set comes with all 24 episodes, also uncut, and 48 trading cards. That's is what I'm getting, when I finally buy it that is.
And remember, even if you have a good price also do a DVD price search before you buy either, just in case. ETA: Oh, and took me a while to find a pic of the actual original artbox, who would've thought it was here at ANN? Artbox vs. Boxed set Edited again to add: And for anyone clicking, that contest was from over 3 years ago, no use trying to sign up for it. |

Thanks for the info undeadben. From what you've said, the only real difference between the singles and the box set is that that boxs have different art and the box set has cards. I'll probably end up basing my choice on box art.
When you say DVD price search, are you talking about some sort of website or search engine? I'm terminally bad at keeping up with stuff like that so you kind of lost me there.

Sorry, I thought you knew, it is a website and a search engine. Here you go: DVD Price Search Did the search just now seems like from the stores listed at the price search Deepdiscount has the best deal on the box set at 43.55, and DVDPacific has the best prices on singles at 14.22 each and 17.08 for the starter set. But the search engine doesn't list all stores so you may have a better deal elsewhere. |

Interesting website and likely to be useful. Again, thanks! |

Another difference is the amount of space you want too. The new box set is a much smaller box. For me personally I have so many DVD's I also prefer something that takes up less space.

FWIW, as undeadben mentioned in another thread DeepDiscount.com is having a nice Funimation sale right now through 3/23. |
