Might have heard of the show before, but would you definitely recommend watching it? The Figma review got my curiosity piqued about the show itself!

Looks like a fun Figma, but even if I'd want the regular or exclusive edition, I don't have much space in my home for a whole lot of little knick-knacks. Anime catgrin + sweatdrop

He sounds like a quiet, zen version of Guy Fieri.

The thing with watching the Kodoku no Gourmet live-action is I have no idea if it's subbed. I don't follow a lot of drama and when I watch the show, it's with my friend and his wife, both of whom are fluent. I get along with my baby Japanese, and the lead's facial expressions tell the whole story.

I watched the first ten minute episode unsubbed without understanding much beyond "It's good. This is really good! Excuse me. Thank you." The crunching was too much, since I wasn't sure what he was eating, so it sounded like he was biting down on bones or gristle. Smile But the meatball in the raw half-pepper looked yummy - I just wish I knew what kind of meat and what kind of pepper, since that would make all the difference.

What I watched was followed by I guess the mangaka ? eating the same dishes at the same place irl. Do they always do that?

Well, that kind of fact-checking is necessary if it's going to extol the food at a particular establishment.

If nothing else, this figure could double as an Agent Mulder figure.

By that reasoning, the closest we'll get to a Dana Scully figma is this?

The Kodoku no Gourmet TV drama series has the 'Furatto Qusumi' part, where Qusumi Masayuki, who is the scriptwriter of the Kodoku no Gourmet manga, visits the restaurants.
According to the Japanese Wikipedia article, Season 1, Season 2, Season 3 and Season 4 have the 'Furatto Qusumi' part.

I love this show, of course Matsushige Yutaka really makes it great.

All 4 seasons have been fan-subbed.

It's strange how good this show is after all it's just a guy eating.
Actually it's part drama, part food show, part travelog and part advertisement for the restaurants. But it all together works out well in the end.
