Hope there's more comedy in this then there was in Inuyasha... I could use a lightweight anime high school comedy.

I haven't read the manga (just the first couple of chapters a while back), but the concept art looks similar to the manga's art.
If we look at the adaptations of Takahashi Rumiko's previous works, it won't surprise me if the show will be extended beyond 25 episodes. |

25 episodes seems fine for now, but with a long-running manga like this one (200+ chapters) I do hope for multiple seasons.
If they're doing the seasonal route, I'll be happy. I don't it to end up like Ranma which has never been fully adapted. |

Yeah, I feel the same way when it's pay day. Really hoping this doesn't go the Inuyasha filler route as it looks like there's enough material to easily avoid it. |

I think it's just me, but the filler in InuYasha seemed more focused then most fillers and seemed to be part of the story for me. That is why when I watched Final Act it didn't feel like the InuYasha I got used too and liked. They could have easily made it longer. It was like a stroll with the initial 167 episodes first series and then a crazy sprint with the 26 episode final act. |

Well you're probably in luck. While Inuyasha has comedy elements, Takahashi mostly intended to be a more serious adventure story with some japanese folklore/horror. I see this being more along the lines of Ranma 1/2 where it isn't meant to be taken as seriously. |

Brain's Base is certainly a surprise. I really like the key art though. It looks different enough from previous Takahashi anime while still maintaining her signature style.

Rinne is very much like Ranma where the stories usually involve it's main feature Ranma was martials arts and gags. While Rinne is ghosts.
Ranma was part martial arts mayhem/Junsenkyo curse/gag series While Rinne is ghost hunter/comedy Rinne is part of a genre that's been very popular in Japan I call them ghost hunter stories. So things like Ghost Sweeper Mikami,Ushio & Tora,Muhyo & Rouji, Hell Teacher Nube, etc.... Unlike say Urusei Yatsura where ANYTHING was possible and anything could happen. UY was a series where if you can think of fun crazy stories you could make the series forever. I think that's why Rumiko has had to say she won't make anymore at times. Although the anime version could have done something like Lupin III where there is a new tv movie every year or every once in awhile at least. Especially if you consider how popular the anime was in Japan. Urusei Yatsura was anything can happen short stories/comedy/gag Maison Ikkoku was romance/adult life/comedy Inuyasha was an adventure/battle series. Great news! I was wondering why this manga didn't get an anime adaptation since Inuyasha has been so successful.
Yeah hope this gets multiple seasons. There's enough material to adapt. |
