1. Sorry if this is inappropriate but anime is what it is, just like people are who they are, there's no point in keeping obvious things a secret.
2. Sorry if this is already a thread.
Anyway it seems that Pokemon is the only anime with the least sex related scenes. I include fan service as well because it's... well, fan service. I want to know why Japanese anime creators have to have something freaky in all of their anime. I'm an adult and I don't mind it but after you see the huge breasted lady get her top cut off or some school girl nekad in the shower for the 500th time, it gets a little boring and a little annoying. If anyone is having trouble understanding my post, I'm basically asking why anime has to have nudity and sex all of the time.

Certainly you must be talking about the ILLUSION of sex. I don't know of ANYONE who is willing to actually buy sex, at least none who will admit it publicly. That's a HUGE difference that should not be overlooked.

Because anime is largely targeted at young males who aren't getting any. Doubt me? Come to Akiba and take a look for yourself.

I will second the comments of the previous two posters. Sexual themes and sexually suggestive material sells very well to young male audiences. This has been a staple of the entertainment industry since it was invented.

As much as it paid me to say it, I have to agree with all above. However, i would like to mention that not ALL otaku's are not able to get some. I know a good many who can/have/are getting some. We just like to see half-to-full nekkid bodies. Nuttin' wrong with that.

Maybe it's just me, but I think you should watch more anime. I wouldn't say most anime is sex related. There aren't many sexual themes in Studio Ghibli films (at least the ones I've seen). There's virtually none in Samurai Champloo, Blood+, Eureka 7, Death Note (keep in mind this is just what I've seen and it's my opinion).
Yes, alot of anime contains sexual themes, and yes, sexual themes (not sex alone) sells. Unfortunatley that's kind of how our culture is. Welcome to life on Earth.

Technically, you were not wrong, for there had been many threads on this topic.

Just how many titles you've watched?

No disagreements here. The people who make anything entertaining knows that T&A sells very well to young males (18-34). If it didn’t we wouldn’t have Girls Gone Wild, or Playboy, or the SI swimsuit edition. It’s like what Jeff Foxworthy once said the two things men want are “a beer and they like to see something nekkid” (spelled wrong on purpose). The former would be different in Japan, but you get the point.

My problem is that people think it's wrong. Why? Sex and sexual desires are as natural as the sun and the moon. Yes there can be a bit too much sexual material for any one show not designated for the sole purpose of sex, but there's nothing WRONG with it. I LOVE a good panty/cleavage shot, I love onsen episdoes (mainly because i know the main male character is going to get hurt), and I am not afraid to admit that I can be and usually are, attracted to anime women. As long as you realize they are an animated or pixelated depiction of a real-life human being, why not enjoy some good eye-candy?
People need to be less concerned about such things, considering they are not the only point to a certain show. Sex is natural, and one's sexuality should be explored to the fullest.

Too much of a good thing turns it into a bad thing.

Oh I agree with you, all the more reason to know about it. Supressing them to the point of considering it an evil force is almost as bad as acting on those urges as well.

Unless the thread starter can come up with better proof that "most" anime is sex-related, I don't see much point in keeping this thread open. I'm sure many of us could name numerous titles that lack sexual/fanservice elements. Wolf's Rain? Ghost Stories? (original Japanese version outside of ADV's dub) Piano? Someday's Dreamers? Kamichu? Final Fantasy Unlimited? Full Moon? Kino's Journey? Haibane Renmei? Aria? Fantastic Children? Cardcaptor Sakura? I'll stop there to avoid further against-teh-rules listing, but seriously, uninformed blanket statements like "most anime is sex related" are not far removed from inflammatory trolling in my view.

I am actually a person who wishes there was more sex in anime. Yes I know there is plenty of hentai and more than enough to satisfy my horny desires to see anime men, women and everyone in between going at it, but I enjoy anime for what it is. Hentai tends to spoil my perspective on anime because its focus is to cater to people who want to watch porn, and tends to be limited on story, plot and the actual exploration of relationships.
Regular anime does this quite well but when the material starts getting romantic, it usually ends with a kiss that gets interrupted or the scene pans away right before it's about to get steamy or relies on comedic relief to take the story in a suddenly different direction. That irks me sometimes. I want to see anime characters make out but I don't want to rely on watching a hentai where that's the only purpose. I'm not saying that all hentai have poor stories and plot development but the people involved with it's production always go by that axiom that yes "sex does sell."
I want to make it clear that I do not equate fan service with sex. Yes much of fan service involves images of those physical features that men lust over, but they are just teasers to add a little extra appeal. Most anime is good enough that it doesn't need fan service but I think including just makes it better for those people who like it. Sex, in a romantic sense is not fan service since that usually requires viewers to have a higher maturity level than most anime (even ones with fanservice) is targeted at.
Edit: @Zalis I saw your post where you proposed locking the thread but the OP did apologize in advance if the topic seemed mundane or inappropriate. I think it is an interesting subject that deserves to be discussed if not simply rehashed. I was looking for a recent thread that my comments related with but I couldn't find it and this one is good in that it focuses on some of the perspectives that people might have about the inclusion of sex and fan service in anime: is it too much, not enough and why etc etc?

I don't have a problem with fan service as long as it's not to the level of say Eiken where insteed of being light and fun it crosses into gross and uncomfortable. I rather like anime like Blue Gender and Rumbling Hearts that aren't afraid to to show characters (more or less) doing the deed I wish that more series were like these. Nudity is one the highest forms of beauty, it's art really and nudity in in anime is art within art or rather composite art.
