Madhouse have been around for a long time, and have put in a lot of quality work the last couple of years. The only problem with Madhouse is the difference between their A Team and the rest is massive. Compare something like Dennou Coil to Devil May Cry and it's really big. Of course I guess that's expected with the amount of titles they do....

Madhouse is one of those at the top of my list just because they've been around so long and have had a large number of my older favorites like Card Captor Sakura, You Gen Kai Sha (Phantom Quest Corps), and Devil Hunter Yohko. It's great to know that they are still putting out awesome shows like Claymore and Dennou Coil.

Oh thanks Westlo for your list clarifying the list of anime that KyoAni has produced. There all ok but none has really impressed me that much just because I'm more picky when it comes to shounen series (which all of them are - or romance series aimed at guys).

They were popular before that. I mean, they animated Cardcaptor Sakura! That was very popular in Japan, and even made some headway over here.

Speaking of Grim, Bloody and Horror Genre, I didn't like CCS since I'm not a bishojo fan boy. Yeah, CCS was very a popular series since it's cute and has liked by many people but didn't thought of the studio that made that animè at all. I think that's the difference between the two.

That's why GAINAX used to be one of the top studios. They only work on one project at a time. I think that's probably why people like KyoAni too. They seem to be in the quality>quantity mode, at least as far as pure technical animation quality is concerned.

Sorry, double post.

I think that Bones has really started to impress me. I'm loving Eureka Seven and Ouran High School Host Club, and really enjoyed RahXephon. Not to mention, they did great animation work for the Cowboy Bebop movie.

Especially when it comes to action genre, they were actually fantastic animating that series even Darker than Black was a great series even though some story plot on these series are rather confusing. Actually when it does something to do with action genre I have to pick for this company cause they're good.

Nippon Animation

Most of the Studio Ghibili staff worked there and they produced some of the best animated series, like those of World Masterpiece Theater among others

Tokyo Movie Shinsha

Lupin 3rd, Sans Famille, Rose of Versailles, Dog of Flanders, Cat's Eyes, Snow Queen, Orguss etc and also US series like Batman the Animated Series, Peter Pan and the Pirates, Tiny Toons and Animaniacs

Toei Animation and Studio Pierrot as stated above

GAINAX, for the production of NGE and FLCL, and Studio Ghibli, for all of Miyazaki's masterpieces. These pretty much speak for themselves. Beautiful series/movies with wonderful stories.

I have to go with Studio Sunrise

Second would Studio Bones

Third would be Madhouse

I'm changing my mind, Madhouse are now #2 and very nearly #1, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is just amazing.
