Funny how they didn't release an actual number. This is just one of those things that sounds good but doesn't mean anything really. They're just trying to generate more "hype".

Then again, Nintendo had the longest running interactive commercial in the form of Pokémon Go, even if Go has little to do with Sun/Moon gameplay it was a great way to get the kids exposed and ask mommy and daddy to pick up 3ds for the upcoming release.

Well, that's a story of about 1 year and 5 years, respectively. not much of a feat there.
That said, I doubt anything but Pokémon will be able to break that record again.
