I do not see why they can not just call this Digimon Adventure 2, and we all pretend there never was another Adventure 2.

But why? Adventure 2 was fun. And we saw Davis and crew in movie 1.

Because the events of A02 happened. It would've been weird calling tri. "Digimon Adventure 2" when it's not.
Although, I personally would've prefer to forget 02 existence, too. Did not like Davis' character at all.

Just because you did not like ONE character does not mean the anime was not good. Davis was a great character and Adventure 2 was far superior than Tamers which all the dumb kids love for some reason.

I may feel different now, but honestly back when it first came out, I [expletive] hated Davis. As a kid I thought Tai was really cool, and then his successor comes along, and looks like a poor mans version. If it had been set in it's own version not a sequel to Adventure, I may not of minded. But instead you get 3 new characters, later 4, with none of the qualities of the originals and dull characterisation. And to then have the originals make appearances, feels like you're being teased.There were a few good things, but nothing worth holding onto.
In the case this had been season 2, they wouldn't of been in Movie 1.

I just wish the 02 kids will make SOME appearance. It's so out of character for them to not acknowledge them at all, I want to see Miyako again so badly.

I'm still holding onto the theory (and hope) that there will be another set of movies focusing on the 02 cast.
Not everyone will like the idea, but it will give us more to watch (and hopefully, give them time to expand on the Dark Ocean).
And it might even mean Tamers could get a sequel, too.

I will be happy if at least Sora chooses Taichi now. That is, Taiora happens while they are teens (Taiora is temporarily happening) but Sorato is the eventual endgame. I would be happier if they retcon the "Adventure 02" finale to where Tai/Sora get married.
