INT. PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICIAL RESIDENCE - DAY

NAMELESS MINISTER is sat in front of SHINZO ABE's desk, showing him a series of documents.

MINISTER
You see, according to these preliminary results, the Franxx has certainly been popular, and we congratulate you.

ABE
So based on this, when can we start seeing an uptick in our birth rate?

MINISTER gulps, adjusts his glasses, and breaks eye contact.

MINISTER
We... we are still awaiting this, but we are exceptionally confident.

It makes sense that SAO Alternative got the number one spot for anime since it a great show and an example of how to make a spin off of a popular show. It is also good to see Darling in the Franxx on the list since it is rare to see children, family, and marriage as the main themes of a mecha show. Also while it might be a bad idea to bet against Llenn I am going to guess that the number one female character will be Zero Two.

I’m happy Hozuki made it on the list even if it is in 15th place

Of the top 20, my favorite 2 are in the first and second place so, GOOD JOB Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online and DARLING in the FRANXX.

Is unfortunate that there are some good ones that didn't make the cut like Konohana Kitan and Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru.

But the one that was probably the most notorious miss was High School DxD Hero.
Combine with the bad BD sales, I'm afraid of the impact on future seasons.

From what I’ve heard GGO acts a lot as a criticism of SAO. Maybe that’s why it works.

Exquisite taste. The three best shows of the season. My hat's off to these connoisseurs.

Looks like season 2 of GGO is pretty much confirmed, either next year summer or fall. Endless SAO here we go.

Although the results are preliminary, I'm still surprised Gundam Build Divers managed to make it that high. The first cour was underwhelming, and the series only became much better during its current second half.

A few expected top choices, but even then, wasn't expecting such a nice mix of different works, given how these polls can often end up spoiler[(then again, I would really like to see the hard numbers before I fully commit to saying that…)].

I'm glad Full Metal Panic is on there given how much older it is than every other series on the list. It's still pretty popular to be able to compete with some of the more recent popular titles. A bit annoyed that Divers and Franxx are ahead of it though. It's a much better mecha series than either of them and imo the best mecha of the year.

Some titles I agree with and there are titles I felt were deserving of a higher ranking. But this is what you get with fan votes within a magazine followership. Ultimately the true rankings is with the sales of a series.
