I'm so happy this is finally happening. Loved the first season enough that I picked up the light novels and have been thoroughly enjoying them. IMO, the series only gets better and better as it goes along.
For those wondering, S1 covered volumes 1-5 of the novel. The teaser shows scenes from both volume 6 and volume 7. I can't wait to see this.

I can’t see them going past volume 8 for this season because:
1. Volume 6 & 7 on their own are thick books, the ending of volume 7 actually has a very fitting end in anime form when you think about it.
2. 9-11 consists of an arc that would require it’s own season to focus on. If they wanna do a 2 cour, that’s an option. I’d rather they didn’t, better to save it if they decide to do a third season, or just don’t touch that arc and rush an adaptation just to animate it.
This season should definitely be focused solely on 6 & 7, if they can somehow squeeze 8 in there somehow it’ll be interesting to see how they do it, maybe a 6 episode ova or something? Volume 8 was really out of place in this series, I get there are relevant characters that appear later in future volumes, but it’s was all over the place, just find a way to somehow introduce those characters in this season and chuck volume 8 out the window. fudge that war. That wasn’t even a war, that was useless fluff that didn’t go anywhere. Regardless, I’m looking forward to this!

A lot of people including Theron theorized that this season really will cover vols 6-8. Even if all 3 are their own story arcs it really shouldnt take more than 4 eps for each vol but if they give it 13 eps like season 1 then majority will go to the vol 8 arc. Besides the real focus of vol 8 are the character developments not the war.

You could break Volume 8 into a couple of omakes and it would probably be fine since the main crux of that book was side stories happening during the war.
That being said I hope the pacing is better in this season than the first one. That was my main problem and why I didn't bother to finish it.

Thats basically what I said though. The entire volume is comprised of short stories of various characters and thats where the developments happen while the whole war thing is basically just a plot device especially in the case of Welf and Hestia.

I'm just so hyped for this. Although i have two other animes i'm really hyped for, kenja no mago and why are you here sensei?. But i can't wait for more Bell and Ais interactions. Also i hope the next light novels this year also focus on that as well.

Novel 6 is about the same length as novel 5, and that used four episodes. Novel 7's longer length would suggest five episodes, but I could see it being done in four. I think that's likely since novel 8 would take five episodes to do properly if they do the whole thing, given all of its individual stories.
Unless the pace of the story is slowed down dramatically, I can't see them spending the whole season on just novels 6 and 7, and I can't see a much slower pace working well. Fujino Omori's storytelling style just isn't conducive to more the relaxed pacing and padding that series which get 6-7 episodes per book warrant. (See Spice and Wolf, The Devil is a Part-Timer!, and certain parts of the SAO franchise for good examples of the latter.) But this upcoming series is going to have a new director, so we'll see.
