The Funimation takeover continues. I cannot say that I am too upset because they at least release their shows on disc.

I was surprised Crunchyroll didn't get this one.

I was expecting Sentai since they pretty much got every other girl baseball anime, but I'm not complaining. I wanted Funi to pick this one up.

They blew all their money on their garbo webtoons.

I believe it is more related to Funimation's new owners giving them a ton of money to spend on licenses.

Watching animes legally will become more harder because of Funimation and Crunchyroll is becoming useless nowadays. Blame Funimation and Aniplex!

It's becoming ridiculous. If I would stricly adhere to only watch stuff I can legally here that I'm mildly interested in, that would be 3 out of 12 so far (4 if I count BNA, but Netflix jail lol). Of course the situation might change, but only 4 titles out of those remain, so I'm not optimistic about my chances.

Yes. How dare they license shows to build their catalog. So despicable.

Won't someone think of the corporations?

Look, I'm not a fan of any of these platforms. Crunchyroll is simply the only option for people like me for simulcasts and even then I can't reach their whole catalog. Funi is nonexistent here: I can't even read their blog/announcements/forums on their site since they geoblocked the whole thing for anyone outside their licensing region, something that not even sites like Animelab do, and I'm not even their target audience because I'm not Australian. Hidive doesn't count with their 1 title per season in my region and VRV is US only, so meh. Wakanim is only available here in Russian, a language I definitely don't speak since I'm not from Russia or any of the CIS regions, and it was last taught here in the Soviet times. Netflix as you might know doesn't do simulcasts outside of Japan, Violet Evergarden was an exception rather than the rule. And Amazon is a joke when it comes to anime.

In short, when Funi licenses something, it might as well nonexistent here, at least legally. Doesn't stop people from watching popular titles like SAO or Heroaca, however is possible, because people hate to be spoiled and want in the discussion. It's not their fault corporations don't want their money. As for VPNs, that shit gets blocked as well and basically functions as a double paywall. So there you have it.
