Wondering if anyone had gone to one recently or if you go to a certain one annually.

Did anyone go to AnimeFEST 2002 in Texas ??

Some friends and I have been hitting Otakon for the past 3 years and have gone to 2 Katsucons. Though we're skipping Katsucon next year in lieu of AnimeBoston since Katsucon has decided to move back to Crystal City, VA- we found the trek to crystal City to be rather dangerous & frusrating so we're trying something new. Smile

As far as reviews, Katsucon was great this year (it was in Baltimore) but a few people ruined it for the rest of us at the end & managed to vandalize parts of the (brand new) hotel, hence the move back to VA... Otakon was soooo much better than last year, much more organized. Unfortunately I didn't get to see as much as I wanted due to several reasons - the main one being the hotel we'd booked at screwed up our reservations, big time Mad & ye good ole domino effect ensued from that point on. But, having the whole convention center to run around in was fantastic & I could've spent an entire day in the dealer's room Smile Hope they get the whole center next year as well.

anyone here been to AnimeBoston before??

I went to AnimFEST! over Labor Day Weekend, Friday to Monday. It was badass and we won 3rd in Drama for our Noir Music Video. *note to self, 300 lb hairy man in sailor scout outfit, very scary.

I went to both Portcon and Otakon this year, I'm going to try making it to those on a yearly basis if I can get the right weekends off.

I make a point of hitting Otakon (my "home" con, in a way), Anime Expo (THE con, if you can only go to one a year) and Anime Central.

I've been meaning to go to NekoCon since it was first created, as well as Katsukon since 2000... I can't make either, though, because of school.. once I graduate (this is a 'when', not an 'if') then I'll see about going to them.

tho, by that point, i might be studying/working/etc in Japan.. which would put an even bigger dent in my anime con trips. ^^;

i've on been to comic-con. while it is not just anime, it does have a anime section (which made a huge comeback this year). i went to that for a little bit. let's see, there was lots of anime (tokyo-pop and so on) in the booth area, and they were handing out a special robotech action figure i believe. also, they had previews galor. they kept the anime previews to the original japanese voices with subtitles. it was really fun, i went 3 out of the 4 days.

Umm...2003 is Anime Boston's first year so no one could have gone to it before Wink

Oh yeah...I should probably add my con stuff in here...I went to Otakon 2K (hated it because it was very disorganized...I wish I could have gone this year since I heard really good things about it). And I'm starting my own con in Philadelphia for next year, but we haven't made an official announcement yet.

I was at Anime Fest! It was a total blast! Kristine Sa was awesome (I bought her CD afterwards). Nothing against A-kon, but the lesser crowds made it alot easier to get around.
Unfortunately, I missed alot of the music videos, but the dance was fun, and Anime Match Game/Anime Hollywood Squares rocked. Can't wait til next year!

Oh, I thought Anime Boston had been around for a year or two. No biggie, we're going anyway - ROAD TRIP!!!! Wink

Cassandra, I'm in the philly area & would love to hear more about your con. We really need a good anime con around here!

There's not much content on the site just yet, but http://www.kosaikon.com is the website.

There will definitely be updates whenever we get more info, so don't give up on it just because it looks a little bare now Very Happy

hEy! i Checked out Kristine Sa too! She rules! Too bad I didn't get to catch her at AnimeFEST.... I've heard so many good things about her lately! Going to buy her CD this weekend hopefully if I can catch a ride into the city!
