12 kokuki? is that what you are talking about not getting licensed yet? It is licensed in North American by Media Blasters and the fourth volume (13-16 episodes) will be release in a few weeks, with the fifth volume due at the end of March. NHK is the anime studio for 12 kokuki right? How is NHK? what is its reputation and quality and stuff since it seems like it is new in the anime studio market. |

Tonan no Tsubasa (図南の翼)?! How'd you get it?! As far as I know NHK has not anime-ize this part yet, so are you referring to the novel? IMHO I think 12 Kokuki ('Kaze no Banri Reimei no Sora' in particular) is more suitable to Chinese audiences rather than its intended audiences (which is Japanese, of course.) All the political and feudal systems are direct copies of Zhou dynasty, and the calligraphy are the same as well (fortunately I can read them without translation. |

Both are correct, it's just that "Youko" is a more literal translation. Typically, the kana for "U" is used in a name to indicate extra stress on that vowel, and little more. When Romanized, it loses its potency, so "Yoko" and "Youko" become equally valid. |

Tho I am relativly new to anime, i am quite experienced, and accepted among the more proficient users. I have seen over 37 full original anime series, I have over 1.5 terabites of fansubed anime and carry over 50lbs of anime vhs tapes in my closit. and still I know that I can truly not say what the best anime series is becaus i have yet to see all of them, Some are Excelent some good some bad, due to the divers tastes the argumet will remain a never ending dissagreement but we all have the same trates in comon we all strive to explor new relms of posibilitys and take part in the emotional strugles of charaters whos trates we finde in ourselves. I have not seen 12 kingdombs this is the first i have herd of it but acording to my presant experience no anime has stired my heart such as the following, 1. Neon Genesis Evangelion 2, Onegai Teacher 3. Berserk 4. Reiouni Kenshin OVA 5. Vandread 6. Full Metal Panic 7. Furi Kuri 8. His and Her Circumstances 9. Last Exile 10. Trigun,,,,, But thiss is mearly the tip of the iceburg to the universes there are to expleor it is a rare thing to find a story that you can truly imers your self in every so often you find it and once you have finished a series your outlook on life is diffirend theat my firend is what anime is all about and once its over you say " Ok pop the next one in!"

Yes. I'm referring to the novel. I was a fan of the Juuni Kokki novel series since before the anime came out. Almost all of the anime that I check out is an adaptation of the novels or manga that I like. |

Wow....just wow. As to the side storylines, have they been translated? Is it finally time for me to make good on my promise to learn how to read Japanese? |

Though I'm an anime fan, sometimes I like to go outside and play in the sun. It's really funny because there's people outside. Like, REAL people. I didn't know they existed, because usually I just hole myself up in my room, play dating sims, talk to my virtual girlfriend Kanaka-chan, and watch lots of anime. I've spent all of income for the past 9 years on anime, so I have lots of DVDs. But sometimes, I really do like to go outside. The real world's even better than what I see on my computer screen, because no matter how many times you go outside and talk to the same people, something different always happens. My favorites are 1) talking to people 2) being in the sun 3) exercising 4) feeling alive. It's a very touching experience for me. And it's a nice rush when you think that maybe you can get a boy/girlfriend that lives and breathes.

I too am relativly new to the anime world and am quite experienced. I have seen over 500 original anime series in their raw japanese format. I have so many fansubbed anime series on my computer, I can't keep count. I have at least 100lbs of anime vhs tapes in my "special" closet, along with my life-size Gundam models and Naru doll. After this measly offering of anime knowledge, the more proficient users have accepted me into their cult. Only now do I truly feel accepted in life. Only 25 more series until I get the official Otaku Gold Star. |

Full Moon o Sagashite - 9.5 One Piece - 9.4 Seikai no Senki 2 - 9.4 Kodomo no Omocha - 9.4 Oh and lookie, only 15 eps into the series and: Fullmetal Alchemist - 9.3 Really, you shouldn't go by these as a basis for the best anime ever. Acording to animenfo, by popular vote, Full Moon o Sagashite is the "best anime ever" and I can tell you.. it's not. *too sweet and corny for my taste* And then it ties with Kodomo no Omocha... Anyway, I'm just proving here that just because a lot of people give it a high vote doesn't mean that it's the best anime ever. It's a matter of opinion, and how many people have actually seen it. And umm... when did this thread turn into a "who's the scariest newbie" thread? |

Hell, here's your gold star right now. And have 100 points. Can we get this back on topic. Either this is about the merits of 12 Kingdoms, or it should be locked and we should all go rant in the last week's "best eVAR" thread. |

Littlegreenwolf is right. A more appropriate title for this list is 'most popular anime according to people who visit this site'.
As for 12 Countries, I personally couldn't get in to it. Seemed like Fushigi Yugi, except darker and better and with no Miaka. Too many different people, places, names and so forth; if I put a little more effort in to the show, I'd probably enjoy it, but as it stood, I found myself somewhat bored by it. -Z |

how rude, look I go to school, i have a job, and I like pinocolatas and long walks on the beach, Im no looser, The average teen watches 3.5 hours of TV a day right that in anime (with no comercialsat the standard 24min episode) converts to 8.75 episodes a day thats 35 series of anime becoms 364 hours, you can watch that in only one month But personaly i only watch 2 to 3 episodes a day and skip normal Tv cas its all crap any way. Also I have spent no more than $80 in cd all the anime i have was free that i eithr downloaded or was given to me (ie: the 50lbs of tapes) , I would have never bought all that crap! Sory back to the fourm.... |

Fair enough. But here's the original problem I had with your post.
I find it hard to boast about owning things I yanked from the internet. How can you be such a hardcore anime fan, yet only get your anime by downloading fansubs? And you would never buy "all the crap?" Sorry pal, but downloading anime does not make you a great anime fan. It makes you a cheap-ass that has no respect for the people who work so hard to bring you all this stuff. If you can't afford anime, or don't want to buy any of that "crap," then you should just deal with what's on TV. Having a harddrive full of anime doesn't make you a better anime fan than the kid who saves up all his allowance to buy a used VHS of a DBZ movie that he loves and cherises. In fact, I'm more inclined to like that kid. ALTHOUGH, I will have to agree with your first post. I don't think it's possible to call anything the "best anime series." That simply doesn't exist. You can think something is the best in the world, but someone else is likely to disagree with you. Personally, I don't find 12 Countries that awesome. I mean, yeah, it's a good show, but it starts off rather dull. I'd imagine it's one of those "it gets better after episode X" shows. As for getting 9.4 rating on Animenfo, that's only the rating for a certain readership. If you went to a Dragonball Z fansite and voted for your favorite shows there, something like the Legend of Broly might come up with a 9.8 rating, but that doesn't make it the best movie ever made. I think 12 Countries has an interesting premise, but like Zac said, it's like Fushigi Yuugi-- without all the magic femmy-boys prancing around. |
