| Quote: | | To conclude things, Omura summed up her job in one simple sentence: “The animation director's job is to make sure the characters in each scene match the character charts” So the next time someone asks you what exactly an animation director does, now you know what to tell them. |
Fascinating explanation.

Which character in Shirobako was the animation director? Want it the twin-tailed goth-loli? Yano, I think was her name.

I have just quickly skimmed through the official web sites for the Shirobako anime and the Japanese Wikipedia article on the Shirobako anime. So there may be some slips in what is written below.
Yano Erika is a seisaku shinkō (a production assistant. It is sometimes translated also as 'production manager').
Persons who worked as a sakuga director (animation director), a chief sakuga director, an assistant sakuga director, or an assistant chief sakuga director at some point in the storyline of the Shirobako anime (including the theatrical anime film version) include:
Yasuhara Ema
Ogasawara Rinko
Iguchi Yūmi
Endō Ryōsuke
Segawa Misato
Iketani Hiroshi
The goth-loli person is Ogasawara Rinko.
