The first episode is probably my favorite isekai premiere of the season. The concept of Power Rangers plus isekai is interesting and the show makes the most out of it. The ranger influences are charming/hilarious and in the case of the latter there were a lot of fun gags (Yidhra being blown away due to the ranger transformation was great). Seeing Tougo pulling out one crazy weapon after the other to flabbergast Yidhra made for great fun. Constantly going on about bonds is also very much something I would expect a red ranger to do.

Isekai wise there is not much to talk about yet but the mystery of why Tougo crossed over plus Yidhra her quest are enough to start with. My only concern is what comes next, you can only use the ranger gimmick for so long until you also need another hook or two to keep people invested.

Welp, Red Ranger Becomes and Adventurer in Another World was that last new anime of Winter 2025 that I was really looking forward to trying, and it was some silly fun. I don't know if it's my favorite isekai of the season - I'm pretty durn fond of Zenshu too - but it was another breath of fresh air.

Like El Smurko, I also thought Yidrha providing common sense commentary on all the strange ranger tropes worked, all the nice touches like the background explosions being real, or having an RPG boss fight turn into a mecha versus giant walking dinosaur fight was a hoot. I thought it a little strange that Yidrha dressed like the typical ranger's villain but also fitting somehow.

And um...at the risk of having my official anime fan membership card and decoder ring taken away, I have to confess that I've never actually seen a Power Ranger show, only clips or montages or toy commercials and such. Most of what I know is from the parodies I've seen on anime and the 45 minutes of that movie that tried to modernize the franchise, the one with Elizabeth Banks as a villain. I knew kid park performers were big into talking about friendship in all those anime where people take their little brothers and sisters to monster shows, but I had no idea power rangers were like violent care bears to the extent suggested in this anime.

I said about Ubel Blatt that there's something to be said for an anime knowing what it wants to be and going all out, and that certainly applies here. The dub is really going to have it's work cut out for it finding a lead who can portray the Red Ranger with the same gusto.

And Smurky, I'm thinking at least part of the show's direction is going to be finding 3 more people to fill in those robot steering modules, filling in the links between the dude that displaced Yidhra's famil and the demon king, and, of course, the deepening of Red and Yidhra's friendship.

Yihdra does not seem to have picked up a new top since she was a prepubescent girl.

Hey, keep it down...I'm worried Blood won't try it if he hears there's indiscriminate fan service...

Episode 1

Fear not, Edjwald, I have sampled this and had a ton of fun. And certainly, Yidhra's fashion choices are part of that fun. I speak of her floppy wizard hat, of course... what did you all think I was talking about??? Anyway, mixing isekai and sentai is brilliant. Another one of those great ideas that make you wonder why it hasn't been done before now. As much as I heap scorn and contempt on most isekai offerings these days, shows like this prove that the genre cannot be fully dismissed. Yet.

And don't forget, I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World Too got a second season Very Happy

Meanwhile, Makeine, Asterisk Wars, Chihayafuru, Mix, Suppose a Kid From the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town, Lovely Bones, Btoom, Otherside Picnic...even quirky little favorites like School Babysitters or Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie...

Y'know, I'm starting to get why some people hate isekai so much...

I get what you mean but given that most shows do not get a second season you are going to have unhappy people no matter what is chosen. Very crappy isekai getting a second season does sting a little bit extra though, the second season of Fruit of Evolution for example just baffled me in many ways.

That was a pleasantly surprising second episode. I really liked the first one but it did made me wonder how the premise was going to last long term. Judging by this week the answer is rather well. The gags are still great (the stat screen was amazing), it seems some Ranger flashbacks get thrown in and there is a central storyline with monster baddies. I especially liked how the episode had Yidhra and the adventurers reconcile their differences to then use that ridiculous weapon and even do some poses.

I'm not saying I like this anime more than I May Be A Guild Receptionist et al..,if they were both on the same day, I'd probably watch Guild Receptionist first. In fact, if there were an Edjwald Anime Awards Ceremony, Guild Receptionist would probably win Favorite New Comedy Lead for winter 25. But since it would be my ceremony, there would also be an award for goofy, enthusiastic fun, and this anime would be the frontrunner. If I weren't too manly to giggle, I would have giggled through the whole episode. As it was, I wryly smiled in bemusement at my inward glee at the sheer ridiculousness on parade.

One thing I'm noticing is that there are five places in that giant robo moshpit thingy but only four protagonists shown on the opening piece. It makes me wonder if any other Earth Rangers are going to show up at some point.

Still waiting for the background explosion when Yihdra's corset finally bursts...

My girlfriend saw the first episode last night and couldn't stop laughing at all the subtle nuances, like how Kizuna Pink's mech was a dolphin and somehow "swimming" through the air, how she was standing in the mech with a slightly different stance than the rest of the group (almost in a weird half-pose), and how Kizuna Green exclaimed they took damage after my gf affirmed and pointed out the fact that it was because they don't even have any chairs in the cockpit at all, thus leading to said damage.

As for Episode 02, I'm amazed at how much this pokes fun at the sentai genre, but also tries to take itself seriously in certain aspects, like the whole teamwork theme. I actually got a little teary-eyed when they finally made their bond and shot the cannon together. It was both hilarious, yet heart-warming, making me shed tears of laughter and joy at the same time. Power Rangers was a big part of my childhood, and once I grew out of that phase, I haven't really dabbled in any sentai stuff since then. So that cannon scene was really nostalgic of a long-lost innocent time for me.

I'm wondering if any of the other Rangers or their villains will also get isekai'd. Or better yet, if anybody in the fantasy world gains one of the bracelets and the ability to transform (as alluded to in a dream in the ED animation). But yes, I am really liking this show and would recommend it to anybody wanting a good comedy.

I'm not versed in anime puns, but I can't help but think that "kizuna" (bond) and "kizu" (wound, scar) are why the "Adhesive Squadron Kizuna Five" logo has bandaids all over it, and his sword and bracelet look like bandaids too, as well as the little hip pack he pulls all his device strips from (although the lines on the bracelet remind me more of a Breathe-Right strip). Anyway, it's funny to me, along with all the relationship attack names.

Episode 2

The humour of this show is bang on the money for me. That alone would be enough to keep me hanging around but even after just 2 episodes, I'm seeing some signs of story-telling chops, too. Be interesting to see if that inclination gets borne out.

Episode 3 delivered in the central storyline that I was looking for. Seems like it is going to be a quest to collect the mana seeds and do something about the corrupt nobles and mages. Given the end of the episode that is not going to be easy even for a ranger. Said ranger now has the help of two new allies. The princess seems to be all on board (and a fan of the ranger nonsense) while Mist is very much not into forming a bond. I did love Red summoning a zord to battle him though, that was so unfair I could not help but laugh.

@Smurky Personally, I don't think Red breaking out the big rig was unfair at all. I didn't see Lowjack stepping up and saying that they both ought to use wooden swords for the sake of fairness. Nope, he just whipped out the most powerful magic sword in the kingdom <-(not a euphemism or innuendo). Apparently, the magic items in one's possession are considered a legitimate part of their power, otherwise Lowball would have protested. .

Anywhoo, I'm still having a blast with this show, and I'm liking the new additions to the cast.

BTW - Seeing the butler whip out those oversized pruning shears reminded me of the maid in Shomin Sample who was constantly threatening to castrate the MC if he showed the slightest interest in a female while staying in an all girls' school.
