Well, I liked it, and in the end, that's what matters most.

Same, it was extremely unbelievable and filled with absurdities but I loved every minute of it.

Hard to disagree with Madhouse's decision to give Trillion Game the C-team for the animation when Orb was airing at the same time. If you switched the teams around, Trillion Game would have been a waste and Orb would have been nowhere near as good as it wound up being. But both stories were easily my two favorites from the past half-year regardless.
And its good that Cormack is acknowledging the second half was better than the first half -- though I think he's about one letter grade lower than it would be for me. With a bit more structure and reinforcing the rivalry with Dragon Bank, plus more emphasis on Gaku and everybody else, it becomes easy to root for these collection of misfits on their way to the top. I still don't get why streaming news is a money spinner -- who in America watches news on streaming services? -- but it was easy to see how they got to the top and good to see their big rivals get constantly beaten by just sheer pluck and Haru's at times very shrewd business deals (Gaku being a hacker was cool as well though).
Low key funny part was the fast forward to Gaku as a billionaire but still using Rakuten points to get discounts on stuff even when he financially doesn't need to. It makes for a cool contrast to Haru. Haru acted like a billionaire when he had nothing, while Gaku still acts like he has nothing even when he is actually a billionaire. A great insight into both their personalities -- and a good chance for Best Girl Secretary to enter the scene. Definitely ship them.
Would love a Season 2 of this -- as low a chance as that is (they almost made it to the end of the existing manga iirc).

That wild reveal about what Haru is up to in the future felt like it got tacked onto the final episode in order to give it a semblance of a conclusion even though the manga is still ongoing. Is that scene really from the manga?

I think the beating heart of the show isn't Haru OR Gaku individually, but Haru AND Gaku as a duo. The story takes every opportunity to note how they complement and contrast each other, and that, to me is endlessly fascinating.
Haru's a silver-tongued conman who understands how most people work and is unafraid to use them as tools in his pursuit to get rich (and get on Kirika's level), but he genuinely values Gaku's skill and input (I'd go as far as to say that Gaku would be the one person he'd definitely baulk at thinking of as a tool- Rinrin is a maybe) and has displayed a degree of self-awareness of what he can't do. Gaku's a shy tech genius who utterly lacks the gift of gab at the beginning. He picks up a trick or two from Haru on how to weasel his way out of a situation as he gains confidence, while retaining his essential honest and kind nature. He chooses to stick with Haru even as he becomes more attuned to the fact that his buddy isn't always trustworthy.
Their friendship is what makes the show, and I find their dynamic more engaging than Senku's one-man show in Dr Stone.

I was harsh on Kirihime when the first cour ended because it was a symptom of the animation not being up to snuff for my liking -- but by the end I liked how she morphed from being just Daddy's Little Princess (even though she's hardly little) to somebody who has her own ideas and wants to execute them within the buisness. Makes her more like a proper character than just a spicy love interest.

The resolution here does not match how the manga progresses so I think it's safe to assume there was never any plans for a second season.
I enjoyed the anime, and it did its job to get me to buy the manga. But the manga is funnier, as the anime never really manages to pull off comedic reactions and timing in the way Ikegami's original art does.
Miles ahead of the live action though. That's got at least one weird original arc that feels like it was by edict of the broadcaster.
