They might have planned to have more episodes from the start but decided to split the series for production/filming purposes.

I have heard nothing about this series, compared to other shows like Cowboy Bebop, Resident Evil and One Piece which could mean it didn't do amazingly but did well enough for people not to absolutely make a mockery of it, or sing it's praises in every way.

I'm more surprised it released almost 3 months ago.

At least here in the U.S it was actually in Netflix’s top 10 (at #10.

I don’t get why. I’m just going to say it was because of Seth Rollins.

To anybody wondering how/why don’t worry, this was likely another case of a two season immediate green-light. Once the second season passes the abomination will be over lol

So this basically had the Velma season 2 thing happen and then it gets canned after. Got it

That makes sense, even people who don't watch Anime or read Manga can get into it. I can picture people stumbling across it and binging the title in an evening after work.

To be fair Netflix has canceled the witcher....they are just releasing season 4 and 5 first...
Any way, at the very least we should hopefully get another mothers basement roast of the new season

I can only imagine this show is cheap enough that Netflix could afford to renew it even though it didn't seem to be a big hit.

Hopefully this is just fulfilling their contracted two-season order and not that this actually got renewed.

I suppose it was just as beloved and successful as live-action One Piece was.

It's either one of two things, they greenlit both seasons at the same time, thinking it would be a hit of some kind (like the Velma show, as has been pointed out in this thread), or, the vastly more terrifying possibility, that enough people either watched this out of morbid curiosity or as a second screen that it would justify a sequel (Netflix doesn't care WHY you're watching any piece of content, as long as they get paid).

They'll do everything with this franchise except give us another season of the main anime.

I don't know if this show is actually popular or if this is just one season split in two and then it's canned, but some people are clearly stuggling to comprehend the idea that something can be bad and popular. Lots of stuff on TV and at the cinema is bad and popular!
