So he's written a novel version of the animated film version of a novel.
Makes sense. |

The Hosoda film isn't a version of the novel, it's a sequel |

Speaking of that, I notice the 1983 film hasn't seen a US home video/Blu-ray release. As a matter of fact, beside the 1983 film and the anime film, no other version of that adaptation had seen any US release like for example, the 1997 film adaptation, and the 2010 film adaptation hasn't seen any US release (well the 2010 film adaptation did see a limited DVD release in 2012 in the US, but since then has been out of print). Here's one thing I notice about the original novel and the adaptation: Of all the adaptation done, no other countries beside Japan has bother to adapt the novel nor the general plotline from the novel. In other word, South Korea, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand has never try to adapt the novel into localized media adaptation. There's no K-drama nor Korean film adaptation of this novel compared to like Boys Over Flowers (which had multiple live-action adaptation done by multiple Asian countries). The Girl Who Leapt Through Time novel came out in 1967, and yet you're telling me Hong Kong's Shaw Bros nor Golden Harvest film has never tried to buy the right to adapt the story and setting into Hong Kong (when HK film market was growing exponentially in the 70's and 80's, that would've been a perfect opportunity for HK to adapt the novel into HK setting). To be honest, it really baffled me that a novel like The Girl Who Leapt Through Time beside being adapted into live-action film, TV dramas, and anime movie in Japan, no other countries in Asia like South Korea, Taiwan, or Hong Kong never did an adaptation of the novel. I'm surprised that Hollywood, UK's BBC (or ITV), Brazil, Mexico, India, or any non-Asian countries have not bother to try to buy the adaptation right to the novel. I would love to see Netflix or HBO Max to do a US live-action adaptation of the novel. Hell, I would also love to see South Korea to adapt it as a K-drama special or a film. I mean don't just limited the novel adaptation to Japanese film, TV dramas, and anime film. Give another country like South Korea, Hollywood, UK, Brazil, and India a shot or a chance to adapt the novel's storyline into something unique from the Japanese adaptation. Maybe their adaptation could outdo the Japanese adaptation. |

Oh, thanks for that information. But I want to see a US blu-ray release given that streaming has it's own limits. Also even though it's on Tubi, maybe if they put the movie on Youtube (free with ads), and Netflix. It would help the film get a wider reach if they were on there. |

Can anyone help me find the link for the two additional art prints to supplement the new novel? Was it posted? I can't find it. Thanks!

I guess novel adaptions for anime/manga are pretty in vogue right now.
