There's been talk that this is going to be missing Balthier and some of the content from the PSP version. Depending on how things wind up going, I may skip this and play that one - I'm not sure yet. Overall, it's great to see more Ivalice.

Not a fan of those battle voices given how iconic the original character screams were. Seems like they'll get annoying very quick like the GBA versions of Mario and Zelda. Especially if they're not even going to use the original spell quotes from the PSX version

It's already confirmed there's no WOTL content at all outside the script being erroneously used for the "classic mode". Genuinely disappointing.

It's seeming like everything from that port except the CG cutscenes is being cut, and I'm honestly not sure why people are upset over it; the guest characters are only there as fanservice anyway, the multiplayer was only added because of the portability, the new jobs require a ton of grinding for not enough payoff, and any of the added scenes getting cut would make sense when none of the original staff were involved.

Why would it be "erroneous" when only, like, ten people would be fine with the PS1 localization? The WotL script has its own problems, but the original is just unacceptable.

Calling the original unacceptable is complete hyperbole. I find the original script much better than the mealy-mouthed prose in WOTL. It genuinely brings down the overall experience and grinds many story beat to a halt because they write a paragraph to what should be a straight-forward punch to the gut. "Animals have no God"
I do hope the new script is much better although without any new gameplay additions I'll probably wait until it's heavily discounted before picking it up. A functioning multi-player mode of the PSP version would have been a dream to have.

While it's no Breath of Fire II, it is absolutely a straight-up bad localization. The WotL localization's biggest problem is that everyone talks the same way, but is otherwise a massive improvement. The way you describe it is much more hyperbolic than anything I'd say about the original.
As for new stuff, they honestly don't need to add more than what's already been confirmed; dialogue cut from the original, a proper deployment screen, visible turn order without going through menus, etc. Especially since, as I said before, the multiplayer was just added because of the PSP being a handheld, not to mention how it was mainly just more grinding for equipment you could already get from the bonus dungeon and a few new weapons, it frankly would've been superfluous in Ivalice Chronicles.
