If this is some weird way they're trying to tease the next Pikmin, especially if the next Pikmin focuses on being in an indoor environment, I suppose I can see the correlation.
Without that sort of context, I find this sort of video worrisome - ever since the Mario movie, it seems like Nintendo keeps wasting effort on "lifestyle brand" projects. And it's not to say they haven't done mobile games or vitality sensors in the past, it's just that the talking flower thing that got announced on a Nintendo Direct went off like a wet fart to the viewing audience.... and I'd be quite skeptical if you were to tell me you open the Nintendo News app they released more than once a week if you even remembered it exists at all.
Disney already does the "Disney Baby" indoctrination thing where it's hard to find baby supplies that don't have Pooh or Mickey plastered all over them, and while back in the 90's it would have potentially been adorable to get a bunch of Pikachu or Mario stuff for a small child, I find it worrisome now that this could be the start of some sort of baby supply campaign to get a cut of Disney's pie. It's already weird and uncomfortable to me that a Pokemon Sleep Tracker app exists, I cant fathom I'd be comfortable with Nintendo trying to aim more data-collection at new/recent parents; it's apparently a lucrative market.

Honestly, I got the impression that the baby is Rosalina, to tie in with the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie.

I choose to get my hopes up! WAAAAY up! Unrealistically up!
I'm calling it now! This is the first teaser for Earthbound/Mother 4!
Sure, it's a long-shot, but just imagine if I'm right!

I definitely think Pikmin, some of the musical sections remind me of Pikmin and it's the best explanation for why the invisible thing gets launched and is subject to gravity. That or it's a just a short that's unconnected, but the musical similarities makes me feel like it's a Pikmin inspired short even if it isn't teasing anything for Pikmin.

Honestly I think Pikmin is probably the one Nintendo property best-suited to adapting into animation (feature-length or not).

I really hope this isn't Pikmin or Mario related, I want a game where I play as the baby.
Maybe a childhood simulator? You start off as a baby, and slowly grow up over time.

That sounds super cute and I wonder why no one has ever done anything like that before.

I have wanted a game like that before too, I think maybe the reason is that it almost always makes sense to guide a child rather than be a child that raise itself in a gameplay sense. That's why games like Princess Maker, Long Live the Queen, and I Was a Teenage Exocolonist usually take a 3rd person perspective of making decisions for a child rather than decisions as the child (outside of social and event circumstances where you make decisions in the moment as the characters).
Well, IWATE techically has the children choosing classes for themselves to gain an area of expertise, but it still follows the dichotomy of choosing day-to-day activities until a special event happens where you make a more immediate choice for the child in the game.
I think we could see more games that do these sorts of things from a first person perspective, but I don't know if many are interested in the growth of a child outside of child-raising sim type games.

I can think of one game that's kind of like that, just... not with humans.
God I wish Tokyo Jungle were playable on literally any modern platform.
EDIT: Oh, and there's also that game called... Ancestors, I think, which is all about "evolving" successive generations of hominids, but I think all of the playable apes are adults (big missed opportunity there, but that's as good a way to describe that whole game as any).
I also remember a really old sort of... not really a game, but a text-based simulator where you could either randomize everything, or plug in some variables (like DOB, country, etc.) and sort of generate a timeline of a human life based on real-world statistics. I wonder if it's still accessible somewhere... absolutely no idea what it was called, but I remember playing around with it quite a bit in school, maybe circa 2008 or 2009?

I miss when Nintendo used anime to promote their stuff rather than Pixar-looking animation.
