The original novel is a surprisingly sharp-witted take on the genre (in particular male sex fantasies associated with the genre) from a female character's POV. It's detailed enough in its explicitness that both I and others who have read the novel assume the original author either is a former sex worker or closely knew such individuals, and it has some surprisingly sweet elements in among some much darker aspects. Also has some big plot twists in its later stages the you won't necessarily see coming. Definitely for adults only, but I actually give it a fairly strong recommendation.

The Summer novel mentioned in the article is a collection of short stories complementing the original, sometimes from different viewpoints. Not sure about Autumn, as I haven't seen that yet.

The franchise has been fun enough that I'd go out of my way to get any additional installment which comes out for it.

I have read the original novel and the Summer short story collection because J-Novel have translated those (so far), and I'd say it was definitely on the really good side and there's much more to it than what the title and short plot summary would portray. My main memory of it is the fact that it's shockingly progressive for a light novel centred around sex work, in terms of how open and non-judgmental it is about the sex work aspect and in portraying the women as full characters. It doesn't even have any fanservice or anything and even when they are describing the sexual aspects it's usually more to do with the practicalities of the job than trying to appeal to the reader in that way. Honestly it's a novel that was very clearly written for a more female audience (the author even says as much when talking about it) but has the unfortunate setback of its title and the basic concept sounding like a much different type of isekai novel.

Glad they're still doing more stories with this series!

This and School-Live are the only manga series I've read in their entirety. I really enjoyed this one.

Looks like that is very recent, the author having started it in May 2024 and ending it (as stated in the article) in June 2025. It doesn't seem like it is collected in a volume yet like Summer is. Hopefully it (and Winter) does eventually, and gets licensed by J Novel Club so I can read it there.

I have the novels but haven’t read them yet so this is a nice edition. I did read the manga although it wasn’t quite the tone that I had hope for.

I never did get around to looking up the manga version (in fact, I forgot it existed), so now I'm curious how it compares.

The manga got extremely intense towards the end, it compares favorably for me with the light novel. The manga had one of those, "I didn't see it coming" type of endings. Overall, the manga is a must read, a highly unique isekai that got better as the story went on.

I read the manga after the novel, and I thought it was an excellent adaptation. The whole series is done now, in seven volumes. It adapts the whole original novel, though doesn't the sequel stuff in the Summer novel.

I’m just curious as to how explicit the manga is compared to the novel (not trying to be a prude or anything, I own plenty of hardcore BL and GL manga).
