It's good the MC has some goofiness to distinguish them from standard isekai protagonist template, but the setup does feel awkward. I hope this is not the last we see from his underling trio, they did the best comedy so far here in the brief screentime they had.

This show seems like a trifle, but I don't mind a little sponge cake with fresh fruit and whipped cream every now and then. The plot is straighforward, and the characterizations are pretty simple, but as basic as the proceedings are, the show breaks the bog standard isekai template, and the plot in its entirety can't be predicted in the first 5 minutes, or even just from the synopsis.
Instead of having an MC being flocked by increasingly desperate women who he either ignores or remains unbelievably unaware of their feelings, we've got a one waifu MC who isn't shy about expressing his feelings. That's kind of fresh. The woman rejects the MC...or at least puts him on hold with a wait and see attitude which is also refreshing. And instead of being universally adored, the MC is either reviled for being a demon or is such a clown that nobody recognizes his power. There are some interesting characters, or glimpses of interesting characters. The mother came out of nowhere and isn't a standard trope as far as I can tell. If she wasn't eavesdropping - and when the show flashed to that picture on the wall for no reason, I assumed that someone was - then her sudden acceptance of the MC is contrived. If she was eavesdropping, her willingness to have her daughter possibly recruit a SS rank into the family ranks could be political as much as personal. The MC ignores the beautiful guild receptionist and bugs a crusty dude who's amusing. The three demonic underlings seem promising (I think they're going to be back too...unless I miss my guess, they're going to come looking for their boss and cause complications). The stone faced maid who breaks people's bones is far from a new creation, but it worked. So, yeah, I enjoyed it. The parts that weren't awe inspiring weren't a chore, and the parts that were fun were fun. I'm giving this one some time to see where it goes. Edited once to add one missing word. That was a solid first episode. I had to laugh about the smirking demon king being defeated by three of the heroes while Youki can easily handle them all. The situation post victory is interesting in that the world has grown more chaotic due to it. It only seems like a matter of time until wars break out and the heroes are forced to pick a side (or differing sides). Youki and Cecilia slowly getting to know eachother while the world is chaotic/evolving reminds me of Banished from the Hero's Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside.

In a way, battling the MC all those times probably sharpened the hero's party into a more formidable blade. I do wonder why the MC is so powerful though.

Probably the fairly standard reincarnator bonus. I assume plenty of demons are still left though.

The second episode is also solid yet still nothing special. The addition of Youki's former subordinates is welcome since they are a lively bunch. The hero is rather annoying while Misaki and Raven seem decent. I somehow expect Raven his crush to be a surprise. The maid might be more than a simple maid but I am unsure if it is supposed to be taken seriously or just as a joke. |

I'm thinking Raven has a crush on one of the maids - it would be funnier if it was Sophia, but it's probably Happiness since she's a new arrival, and her personality seems as anti-harpy as you can get.
Not a deep show, but it's cute, and if it's conforming to an isekai formula it's one I haven't seen before. I'm still liking it. |

Past the third episode milestone and this anime is somewhat filling the void left when Welcome to Japan Ms. Elf didn't get a second season. I'd rate the latter a bit higher, but they both put their own spin on the isekai concept and add a little sweetner.

Ah yes, good old domestic violence is indeed always something that elicits a chuckle.....
Anyway, I like that the side characters are getting some of the spotlight. Raven will likely slowly build up his confidence and Mikana has some talking to do. I still do not care at all about the hero though. |

I like that the main character isn’t the hero or demon lord, it gives a fresh perspective. Crunchyroll streaming makes it easy to follow. Could be cute and funny, especially with the romance vs. battlefield setup.

I like that the mc is also fairly sensible. He may be a goof at times but he says it like it is and is pretty perceptive. Because of that Youki was able to mend the rift between the members of the hero party. It was especially needed for the hero since he is pretty darn awkward, more so than Raven even. |

I was impressed that Yoki allowed himself to be put in jail by someone who is blatantly chasing the woman Yoki likes. That's not the typical overpowered MC in an isekai behavior.
It's pretty clear by now that this really is just a cheerful, easy breezy anime without any great ambitions other than to have some likable characters mucking their way around to doing right by each other, which I'm okay with. It was also clear this episode that slickly animated action scenes aren't the selling point. For me, what is the selling point (besides the chill vibe) is that the anime has wandered off the isekai reservation and isn't just checking off boxes. I can think of other anime that have had a lethal blank faced head maid, but I can't think of any others where she was married. I don't recall an isekai where a member of the hero's party was afraid to speak because he had a girly voice, or where a dullahan had his helmet spotwelded to a suit of armor so he could be in a knight squad, or where a harpy whose personality is the exact opposite of what her name implies had her feathers plucked, etc. I'm not even sure I can think of too many isekai where a demon lord fell for a party member and became human for her sake. Maoyu, sort of fits, I guess, but that was a vastly different animal. |
