Credit for being able to still appreciate what a game is/does even if the main gameplay doesn't work for the reviewer. Being able to recognize that something is done well, but not necessarily to taste is not easy.
Personally, the demo sold me on the mechanic and I liked the mix of hacking and shooting. Having to balance them both constantly with the mix of enemy types made it feel like the flavor never got stale.

I wound up picking up the game on Steam and my overall impression was, "I like this, but I don't love this," and after a few hours I set it aside and haven't gotten back to it since.
But then I decided to try the Switch 2 demo, and found it to be way more fun. The whole hacking element just seemed to work much better for me in handheld (presumably by virtue of the smaller-screen placing all of the stuff I had to pay attention to much closer together) and at this point I think I've spent more time playing the demo on my Switch 2 than the full game on my PC. Definitely plan to pick up the full game whenever it hits a decent sale on the eShop.

I liked the new game mechanic. I agree it is distracting, but I think that is the point. The game doesn't expect amazing gun accuracy, and it doesn't expect a bunch of perfect parries. It felt intentionally balanced around the fact that you were going to have hacking reduce your effectiveness in those other areas. I think even a bit too much as the game felt easy. I played the demo on both PS5 Pro and PC. It felt like the hacking worked better on a controller, and aim seemed less important so I went with PS5 Pro as I'd rather play on couch/tv if I'm using a controller.
It felt like they lacked enough real bosses to let you play around with the hacking + shooting + dodging. There were a couple of good bosses even then. Fighting rooms of enemies didn't feel bad either, and the guns had some diversity to them. I ended up liking the mechanic of no reloads, grab a new one because it kept me from using the same weapons the whole time as I do think some were clearly better.
The character interactions were good. I'm a sucker for sci-fi, space/lunar colonies, etc. The plot felt weak and extremely predictable, but the setting was fantastic. Exploring the lunar colony felt amazing. Like the author of the article, I very much appreciate a game that does what it needs to and ends without dragging on.
