I want to say this is a bit late, but if they need the time, so be it! I'll rewatch season 1 with some friends before it releases. ^^

Delicious S2 and Frieren S3 in Oct 2027
Now we just need Witch Hat S2 to make the most epic fantasy season ever.

I wouldn't be surprised if Studio Trigger's priorities with New Panty & Stocking in 2025 and now Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 this year were contributing factors for Season 2's delay to late 2027. Apparently, they started work on the second season in June or August of 2024, but the fact that Trigger was releasing and prioritizing different projects and releasing said projects once a year (New Panty & Stocking Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2) was what led to its October 2027 release.

So ....who messed up and didn't have the staff stay together and keep working on season 2 as soon as they finished season 1. Like im sure it takes a long time and energy to make actual (traditional prior to 2010ish) full 24 episode seasons of anime, and im not wanting to rush the animators.
To me this reeks of we didn't expect this to actually be that popular so we didn't plan to actually do the whole thing.
Almost exactly like what seems to have happened with cyberpunk edgerunners and its sequel. I am not saying oh they over booked themselves. But they seem to repeatedly have to go ohh opps i guess its a thing now!

I greatly prefer that Trigger spreads out their projects rather than trying to cram too many into production at once, like certain other studios...

Yeah, Trigger feels like they're more along the lines of a studio like KyoAni where they're going to put their efforts into a couple of things at a time rather than a bunch of things at once, so I'm not super surprised at the wait.

I don't think any of that seems unusual for where the industry is with one season orders being the norm. Edgerunners adapts from the world of Cyberpunk but is otherwise its own story, so there wouldn't be anything else to do with like with an incomplete adaptation. that has more manga to use. Someone had to order more, and with current production schedules, getting more of something means either waiting for availability or finding someone else to do it.
