"....it's already a very funny momentary detail that Hahari hired her on the spot just because she thought she was cute."

No lie, I horse laughed for over a minute following that extremely brief joke. Can't tell you why I found it *that* funny, but I did.

Naddy reminds me of the various school teams from Girl Und Panzer. I always adored the idea that they were all in fact Japanese girls cosplaying the heavily stereotyped citizens of various countries based on having watched a bunch of old WWII movies. Naddy and the girls from Saunders University High School would get on quite well, I think. And they could hang out at Shii's family cafe from Super Cub and have Shii's similarly American-obsessed mom denmother them all. Shii would die of embarrassment, though, particularly if Koguma and Reiko happened to stop by while that was happening. (Although Reiko's fascination with replica handguns and extreme motor vehicles would probably make her an easy mark for the senshado teams too.)

As someone's who caught up to the manga, I'm still conflicted about Chiyo being Rentaro's cousin. I know it's legal in Japan, and that they're not real, but still.

From the introduction, I was waiting for whatever explanation they had with that. On the one hand, it's odd that he had this cousin that he is only now meeting despite spending a lot of time with his uncle when he was younger. But, then he says that his uncle got super busy and they hadn't seen each other in years, and he is described as a single father, so maybe she lived with her mother until recently. Plus, Chiyo and Uncle have enough resemblance to Rentaro that it is believable that they are related. But, then again, the distinction that is usually drawn is that it's relation through marriage or adoption, and not genetics.

We llthe cousin thing makes sense when you consider the idea that the show is parodying every anime trophe in the book as it goes on to 100. I am now seriously expecting the biological twin sister to show up inevitably... Razz Sad

I'd even venture the step-mom, but we already have a mom covered. Twisted Evil

Our American girl is vulgar as you'd expect. Laughing

I was really looking forward to the idol story after reading the manga since actual sound and motion would add a lot to it, and it didn't disappoint. And as far as I can tell, they didn't use any CG models for it, which is getting rare even in actual idol anime.

Great episode, we had the return of the Gorilla Alliance and the Jurassic baseball girls, lots of great gags, Shizuka, Chiyo and Kusuri were doing meme dances.

That's cause making 13 rigs of acceptable quality for just one song and dance episode would be prohibitively costly, especially with this body type variance, and due to nature of the show and its art style it's not like there will be many chances to use them later on. Although it would be cool to see their performance presented up to modern idol anime standards with expressive camerawork and convoluted choreography, they did an admirable job with just 2D, especially hand movements was handled nicely.
