Things in this show never go well for it's hero...he's always the underdog and gets the crap (Euphie's death, etc.).
just watched episode 6
and yeah, it ain't going too well for Lelouch

Personally it would be boring as shit if everything went perfectly which is probably why episode 4 is my least fav in the second series and probably why I just can't stand Vampire Knight's Kaname. I don't mind arrogant characters but they need someone to put them in place from time to time which SUzaku has done nicely this series with Lelouch.

episode six had a lot of action, but it felt like a total waste of time. not only was nothing accomplished (besides showing off Kallen's fancy new flying gear),but it's hard to believe someone as smart as Lelouch, came up with such a damn flawed plan. he went through all that effort to geass everyone in the ship, while Suzaku just busted through the ship. in seconds. also, one would think he would've had some kind of beacon to allow the others pinpoint his location. Hell Suzaku even came up with that idea.. poor writing was the main problem with the first season, and now it seems like it's starting to show up again.

Uh.. it would be poor writing if Lelouch knew where Nunally was and busted his way through the ship towards her....

i think this episode had more of a point than you think Nunnaly is has become the flag to capture but you have to win it fairly
she has doubts about suzaku plus he's got her wheel chair tagged i don't think he trusts her and he's using her he's becoming exactly what he said he hated. Also Nunnaly is realizing that suzakus lied to her and also that at the very end that Zero is Lelouch-not stated but you can tell

Her hearing Lelouch over the explosion of that ship is bad writing... that entire ending sequence was bad.

The battle was good. It was nice to see Kallen being able to compete with the flight-capable Knightmares, nailing three Vincents (the plotarmor is strong with Darlton, haha). The way the Gurren got upgraded with a Jet Scrander... flight pack, sorry, in free-fall was stylish, if a bit over-the-top. It was also great to see Anya's reaction to getting kicked: "It stepped on me..." with a deadpan delivery (Anya is great, actually).
And Nunnaly plays a Euphie part 2 on Zero, made more painful by Nunnaly being Nunnaly. In retrospect, I should have expected it, but I was too busy being distracted by all the robot porn that was going on.
Next episode, we get the Euphie part 2 declaration, we get some boys-love looking scenes (preview made me all omgwtf?!), and we get to find out if the woman on Nunnaly's right in the preview (our left) is really Cornelia as some rumors... rumor (God, I hope so. We need our Cornelia).

Damn! With Nunnally "siding" with the old ideals, it seems Lelouch needs to really needs to contemplate on his goals and ideals of why he's doing the stuff he's doing. And on another note, is it just me or did Anya's Knightmare just screams Gundam Virtue from Gundam 00? Granted I guess it's a bit better for a cute little girl piloting it than some androgynous bishie guy.

Blargh, this is why I hate mech anime. The plot twist with Nunally choosing Suzaku rather than Lelouch was expected but still makes things very interesting; somewhat reminiscent of Zero rescuing Suzaku in the first series, where Suzaku told Lelouch he was wrong then, but IMO the mech fight scene was lame.
The whole free-fall-stuff-attaching-itself-somehow-making-kallen-go-from-woeful-to-godlike scene was just gay. Blargh I hate mech anime. Sorry. I'm sure fans of mech stuff would appreciate that fight somehow, but it was so shounen-ish (all of a sudden the good side obtains the power to completely overwhelm the bad side, despite the odds being completely against it - zomg dragon ball z). Meh. That gripe aside, The episode itself was pretty interesting. I really would appreciate this anime much more without the knightmare crap though. That's just my opinion.

gurren haz ta haz!!!!!!!!!
now the haz score is Black Knights 2, Britana ... lots.
BTW what hapened to the first OFMG, WTF, OVER 9000!!! Knightmare that zero used to use?
I watched this ep twice with Different subers and WOW there was a huge difference! first time
nunnally was being forced to go by suzaku and the second time she wants to go.
when i watched for the first time i was WTF they did WHAT??? then a saw the beater sub and it made a whole lot more sense than the other one so this ep was interesting to watch.
So now nunally knows who zero is (not that one person is easily heard over the engens of the mec your holding on to, and huge explosions) but beside that minor point i liked this ep. its going to be cool to see how this plays out (6 days 7 hours till next release)
that woman to the right of nunally is suposted to be Cornelia? doesent look like her at all. alough im not complaining if it is.

It's not just you.

This is most definitely true.
Anyway, I liked that Kaguya appeared and actually had several lines (and a cute new outfit) and her scene with the adorable little empress was great. Also, Cecile got a decent amount of screentime.
However, The way the Gurren was upgraded was cheesy and its rather overpowered and a little silly how it so easily defeated the Knights right off the bat. The good thing is that this shouldn't be regular as she had the advantage of surprise and the knights had their guard down after easily dealing with everyone. As overpowered as it is, it actually has competition where it will need it, unlike the first dozen episodes of Gundam 00. I agree that the end scene was poor. I also didn't like how quickly the Knights found Nunally's royal carriage and got there.
While certain characters had a nice increase in screentime (or appeared for the first time) this episode was easily the weakest of R2 so far. But it was by no means a bad episode, just a big step down from the previous ones.

The other question is does Zero still have the favor of the chinese federation. It seems like the operation was carried out without giving them knowledge of it, and thus Suzaku found out.

But the whole china thing is very complex (just like real politics). They are supporting the Black Knights but want to stay at peace with Brtinnia. So they have to play a dancing game to continue to survive.

Man oh man, poor Lelouch! Nunally going with Suzaku was horrible. As for Nunally hearing Lelouch's voice, I still don't think the jig is up. I think she might believe she imagined it, or brush it off as impossible. It would be nice if she went over to her brother's side...now there's the question of how Rolo's would take it. And finally a bit of good luck for Black Knights with the upgrade! They seem to have almost no allies, although I wonder what that girl from last season (the one who seems to have become a woman in the last year and calls Zero her husband) will bring to the table. they need another ace pilot-- maybe the Chinese Federation Dude? Pretty please? I want him on our side. I'll just call him CFD until I can learn his freaking name.
In any case, next episode's title better not be some kind of cheap trick!!

I just re-watched the end of the episode because of all this talk of Nunally hearing Lelouche's voice. I totally didn't think that at all the first time I watched it, and after reviewing it, I still don't think she did.
Her reaction to me looks more like basically, she had a 'bad feeling', as if she knew something had just happened but wasn't sure what. It's the kind of storytelling tactic they use a lot in shows, anime and otherwise. Something dramatic will happen, and the character in question will be shown looking troubled/surprised even though they have no real knowledge of what is happening. I don't think she actually heard him at all.
I think that's all it is.
